Prompt: Sorry I’m not reacting to this news with appropriate excitement, I’m really hungry.
Gemma waltzed into the kitchen. She was flying higher than she ever could imagine. She couldn’t wait to talk to Laura and Anne about her terrific night the night before. Wanting to do it together, instead of one on one when each of them came into the living room, Gemma stayed in her room, pacing until she heard Anne and Laura talking with each other. “Guys!” she said, her smile was going to crack her face it was so wide, “Guess what?” “Lance proposed,” Laura guessed. Laura had been saying that since Gemma had met Lance. She simply refused to allow them to just be friends. She was always the first one to guess that something more was going on between the two of them. “No,” Gemma shook her head with an amused smile. They weren’t even close to the engagement level. “What?” Anne asked with a yawn as she shoved some dry Fruit Loops into her mouth. “Lance told me that he loved me,” Gemma squealed. “That’s amazing!” Laura jumped up and down and wrapped Gemma in an embrace. Anne simply watched the two girls, still munching on her Fruit Loops. “What’s wrong?” Laura asked, pausing long enough to notice that Anne wasn’t joining in on the merriment. “Nothing,” Anne shrugged. “You don’t seem excited about this news. We’ve been looking forward to this day for the entire school year, and you look like you couldn’t care less,” Laura looked like a stern mother hen. “Sorry I’m not responding to this news with the appropriate excitement,” Anne shrugged, popping some more Fruit Loops in her mouth, “I’m hungry.” Laura and Gemma looked at each other and rolled their eyes. Anne got in some serious weird moods sometimes. She certainly was unpredictable. But it was part of her charm, and they loved her for that. The three of them would fully celebrate that news as soon as they got Anne some breakfast.

All of us tend to do this....we have unrealistic expectations for relationships, especially new ones. For me, it's usually for other people's relationships rather than my own.
Prompt: “You have unrealistic expectations for this relationship.” Jessica daydreamed about her meeting with Michael. He was perfect. Absolutely perfect. He was the man of her dreams. “What’s going on?” Michelle asked, jumping on the bed in her excitement. Jessica went into detail about her meeting with Michael. “I think you have unrealistic expectations about this relationship,” Michelle said after Jessica had finished talking. Prompt: “But I don’t drink, why do I feel hungover?” / “You don’t drink. How do you know what hungover feels like?”
Lacey groaned and rolled out of bed. She couldn’t open her eyes. She didn’t dare. If she opened her eyes that would mean she was awake, and she couldn’t bear to be awake. She felt terrible. She felt like she had spent the entire night binge drinking, with none of the drunkenness that came with it, but all the terrible after effects. She shuffled into the kitchen, her eyes open, but in slits, to allow as little light as possible. Her roommate Jess was in the kitchen, making breakfast. She was too happy this morning, and Lacey kind of wanted to throw a cup at her. “What’s wrong?” Jess asked, putting out breakfast for Lacey. “I feel terrible,” Lacey groaned, sitting at the counter, “I feel hungover,” she finally said, “But I don’t drink...Why do I feel hungover?” last night was a blur, and was super fuzzy. She didn’t even know if she really wanted to remember what happened last night. “You don’t drink,” Jess confirmed, “So how do you know how hungover feels?” “Because it feels like this...miserable. I can’t breathe, my head is fuzzy, I don’t feel good, and my eyes are super light sensitive.” “Or you know, it could be a combination of you being sick and you sobbing over that movie last night,” Jess explained. “Well it’s terrible,” Lacey complained, “No more.” Jess smiled. She said that every time she got put through the emotional wringer because of a movie, TV show, or book. It would last until she found something new to gain her attention and then she’d go back to allowing herself to be sucked into that world, and once again get her heart broken and deal with the terrible side effects of that situation. Prompt: “Why would I go anywhere with you?” / “Because you love me.”
“Come with me,” Jason said, holding out his hand to Lauralie. “Why would I go anywhere with you?” Lauralie asked curiously, staring at his hand. She wasn’t quite sure what was going on, and whether or not she should trust him to lead her anywhere. “Because you love me,” Jason said with an almost cocky kind of smile. She shook her head with a slight smile. She accepted his hand and he lead her to a park where they watched the meteor shower. It's a combined prompt!! I put yesterday's and today's prompt together! I didn't plan for it to go that way. I planned to give you two different posts, but it worked out this way too. Sorry I didn't post yesterday, long day. So here you go.
Prompt: Sorry, I forgot! Prompt: “I’m sorry.” / “No, no, no now, don’t give up on me now!” Gabriella’s heart hurt, but she knew what she had to do. There was no other option. No matter how much she didn’t want to, she had to let him go. She hoped Lance would be understanding. She couldn’t take an argument. She wanted to do this quickly and painlessly, or at least as much so as possible. “Lance, listen,” she said as they walked to their separate gates. “No,” Lance shook his head. He knew what was coming. He had felt like something was going on ever since they had escaped. That didn’t mean that he wanted to hear it. “Lance,” she said firmly, she needed to get this out, “We need to go our separate ways.” “No,” Lance shook his head. “Lance, please,” her heart was breaking, she could feel it. “Lance!” Marsha shouted, running up to him. Lance managed to catch her right before she fell. His eyes were wide. He had totally forgotten that Marsha had planned to come down and catch the same flight back so that they could talk. With everything that had been going on the past month and a half, he had totally forgotten about it. “Are you okay?” Marsha asked, “What’s wrong?” “Um, nothing,” he shook his head, trying to clear it, “Sorry, I forgot,” he said truthfully. “You forgot?” Marsha sounded almost hurt. “I’m sorry,” Lance said. He glanced over at Gabriella. He hoped that she understood. She hoped she’d wait and let him explain everything. Marsha caught his glance, and glowered over at Gabriella. “I’m sorry,” Gabriella said, noticing Marsha’s stare, she turned to leave. Lance moved to follow her, but Marsha stopped him. “No, no, no,” she said, “What’s going on?” “I…” Lance said, staring at Gabriella’s retreating back, “I...just, give me a minute,” he walked toward Gabriella, “Gabriella!” he grabbed her arm to stop her moving away from him, “Listen.” “No,” Gabriella jerked her arm away from Lance’s grasp, “Look, it’s fine. You’re with Marsha. What happened while we were in...that place,” she finally pushed out, “Is over. It’s done. It’s like we were in a time warp. What happened there happened, and that’s it. It’s over now, and we can go our separate ways. Go back to Marsha.” “No,” Lance shook his head, “No, no, no.” “Stop saying that,” Gabriella was fighting back tears. She had thought all her tears had been shed, that there was no way anything could make her cry any more, but apparently she was wrong. “Don’t give up on me now,” Lance begged. “It’s too late,” Gabriella shook her head. She gave Gabriella a peck on the cheek and walked away, her tears were streaming down her face as she walked away. Prompt: Please don’t fall off that cliff, your mother would kill me.
“Not thinking about jumping, are you?” Lance asked, walking up to Margaret as she stood on the edge of a cliff. “No,” she shook her head with a sad smile. They had had a lot of good times on that cliff. It had been their spot. It was the place where she finally came to terms with the fact that she was head over heels in love with Lance. She never wanted to leave this beautiful place, and yet here she was, the first one to leave. “Please don’t jump off this cliff,” Lance smiled, wrapping his arm around her shoulders, and placing his lips on top of her head, “Your mother would kill me.” “We can’t have that, now can we,” she smiled. She allowed herself to be guided back from the cliff’s edge. Prompt: Write a scene with a twist at the end
He ran toward the airport. He bought the cheapest ticket he could get and raced through security. He reached the terminal where she was waiting to board. “Annalaide!” he shouted. “Parker?” she asked, “What are you doing here?” She had wanted him to do something like this. Some grand romantic gesture to show her how much he loved her. She just never thought he would do something like this. “I want to talk to you,” he said. “Don’t,” she shook her head, “I can’t do this. We’re over. It was fun while it lasted, but we can’t continue on like this. This one gesture won’t work. It’s too hard. Please, just leave,” tears were in her voice, and were hanging out in her eyes, but refused to fall. “No,” he shook his head, “Not until I get this out,” he paused for a minute and then continued, “Go. You should go. You’re right. It’s too hard. It’s not worth it.” They shook hands and went their separate ways. After all, he had a plane to catch, to Denver. Today's prompt reminded me of something Ryan would say/do, so naturally I chose to write about her. So today is them on a con job where Ryan's inner Ryan comes out :p. Hope you like it.
Prompt: “Only come back if you have backup. Or a burger. I’m starving. Actually burger THEN backup. Yeah, do that.” “Hey, I think we need some help,” Skye whispered. It was a harder job than they had originally anticipated. It was time to call in Alysha and Charles. They could use all hands on deck for this con job. Ryan was doing just fine, and could handle it for the few minutes it would take for her to get Alysha and Charles off of their date and in here to help out. “Okay,” Ryan confirmed. She knew when she was over her head, “Only come back if you have backup,” she paused for a minute and tilted her head as she thought for a minute before adding, “Or a burger. I’m starving,” she hadn’t eaten since breakfast. She needed nourishment, “Actually,” she said again, with another head tilt as she talked, “Burger THEN backup,” she decided, prioritizing her hunger over her need for help on this con job, “Yeah, do that,” she confirmed her decision. Skye rolled her eyes in amusement and left to go get Charles and Alysha. If you liked today's prompt, read more about our little con group in their book Escape Me. It is on Amazon. Casey bounded to the door as soon as the doorbell rang. Her hair was in braids, freshly washed and ready to go to bed once the babysitter arrived. “Lacy!” Casey said happily as she threw the door opened, her face fell as she noticed the man standing at the door, “Oh.” “Thanks,” Marcus smiled tight lipped, not the reaction he had been expecting. “Are those for me?” she asked, looking happily at the flowers in Marcus’ hands. “Um,” he said nervously, “Your mom actually,” he looked down at her falling face once again and it broke his heart. He was failing on every level tonight, he had to figure out how to remedy this situation, “But you can have one if you want,” he took out a flower and handed it to her. Casey smiled happily and skipped off to tell her mother that her date was ready to go. “Oh, hey,” Mary said, coming down stairs, “I just got a phone call. The babysitter is really sick and can’t come today. I’ll have to take a raincheck.” It was time for Marcus’ face to fall. This was the worst first date in the history of first dates. “Hey,” he said, an idea popping into his head, “Why don’t we bring Casey with us? It could be fun.” Casey’s eyes lit up in excitement. Mary nodded. That would work. Maybe this first date would turn out alright after all. |
