Prompt: I wanted to talk about it. I wanted to scream. I wanted to yell. I wanted to cry. I wanted to shout about it. But, all that I could whisper was “I am fine.”
“What’s wrong?” they ask. “Talk to me,” they beg. I want to. You don’t know how much. I wanted to talk about it. I wanted to scream. I wanted to yell about it on the top of my lungs. I wanted to break down and cry. I wanted to shout about it. There were so many things that I wanted to do. So many things I wished I could, But I couldn’t. I was trapped. My vocals were cut off. They weren’t producing any sound. My tear ducts weren’t making tears. Nothing was working like it was supposed to. All that I could whisper was “I am fine.”

Prompt: Of course you're poisoned. I’m the one who gave it to you.
Never had Ruby felt so much pain coursing through her body. She wished that her body would finally allow her to black out, and release her from the pain, even if temporarily. She thought they had done their worst to her. She thought she couldn’t be in any more pain. She had been wrong. Nothing they had done to her could compare to the pain she was in now. “I think I’ve been poisoned,” she gasped as Harlen walked into the room. “Of course you’re poisoned,’” he gave a half shrug as he strode nonchalantly into the room and squatted down next to her. While she winced in pain, he lifted her up so that she could get a better look at him. “I’m the one who gave it to you,” he smiled wickedly. So with one of them, I already have a story like that. You should go look it up. The second one was just a random one and I thought it sounded very much like something Ryan and Henry would say, so that's exactly what happened. Prompt: Your main character goes on a quest to find missing royalty. I actually kind of have a whole story about this prompt. Hidden Royalty. It's not out on Amazon yet, but I believe it's in the Monthly Stories Anthology on Amazon - at least parts of it. You should go check it out. There is a witch, a sassy bird, and several idiots. I love the little group. They are super fun. Prompt: Drop the soda and no one gets hurt. Kevin's eyes widened as Henry walked through the door. He hadn't expected him back so soon. Kevin guiltily looked down at the soda in his hand. Henry was going to get so mad at him. Kevin saw the anger play across Henry's face as he noticed his friend holding a soda in his hand. "Drop the soda," Henry said slowly, angrily, "And no one gets hurt." Kevin carefully placed the soda on the desk in front of him and put his hands in the air to prove that he wasn't so much as touching the precious drink. Henry strode over to the desk and grabbed it before walking out of the office, forgetting all about why he had come into the room in the first place. Prompt: "I love you!" I shouted, the impact of my words lost on him, "I have loved you since the day I met you, and since then, what I've felt has only grown. My thoughts can't move without constantly being drawn back to you!" Hands dropping, my voice cracked as I continued, "You're it. You're my world." He met my eyes with no remorse. / "But you're not mine and you never will be." And with that, I watched, speechless, as my forever simply ceased to exist.
Gathering courage from the alcohol that was flowing freely around the camp that night, Bonnie made her way toward Sam's tent. Without bothering to knock, she walked right into the tent, catching Sam off guard. "What are you doing here?" he asked, looking at her. Bonnie paused at the question. She hadn't really planned this far. She had no idea what she was going to say. She had let the alcohol propel her forward without another thought of how this situation would go down, and now she was standing in Sam's tent, staring at him like an idiot. "I don't know exactly," Bonnie said slowly. She was beginning to sober up at his questioning. "So," Sam said, staring at Bonnie, "That's your final answer?" "I'm here," Bonnie sighed, "Because I can't stop thinking, remembering, and missing. I tasted your soul and I can't forget its flavor." Gathering up her courage, she strode over to him and put her arms around his shoulders and kissed him. "I love you!" she pulls away. The impact of her words were lost on him and he simply stared at her. "I have loved you since the day I met you, and since then, what I've felt has only grown." She pulled away from him slightly, but kept her arms around his neck. "My thoughts can't move without constantly being drawn back to you!" She dropped her hands, but took his hands in hers. "You're it," she said, looking at his hands, "You're my world." "But you're not mine," Sam said, removing his hands from hers. "I know," she said sadly, "And that's what hurts me the most. You don't feel the same, and you never will.' She kissed his cheek. "And once again, I'm in this game," she pulled away, "Playing all alone." Without giving Sam time to respond, she strode out of the tent and towards her own dwelling as her forever crumbled around her. Prompt: "What's your favorite thing about me?" / "Probably your smile." / "Seriously?" / "Okay fine, I love how you can kill a man in only two seconds."
"What's your favorite thing about me?" Marcus asked Sasha. "Hmm," Sasha thought about it for a minute, looking him up and down, "Probably your smile," she finally said. "Seriously?" Marcus asked, disappointed by the answer. "Okay fine," Sasha sighed, "I love how you can kill a man in only two seconds." Marcus smiled. That was more like it. For my Utah readers, Happy Pioneer Day! Prompt: "It's all about the one who calms the storm. It's your dancing partner, drinking buddy, lover, adventure buddy, stare at the stars and talk about life, and best friend in one." “How did the two of you get together?” Ruby asked, looking at Anika and Kyron. They were polar opposites of each other. “You guys are so different,” Aleena added. “Not every beautiful poem rhymes,” Anika said with a shrug. “Yeah,” Aleena said, “But the two of you are so different, and so weird together.” “See,” Anika said, “Sometimes people just fall in love without reason, without even wanting to.” She certainly hadn’t wanted to fall in love with Kyron. He had annoyed her at first, and love was the furthest thing from her mind. “You can’t predict it,” she continued, she looked over at Kyron, “That’s love.” “How do you know when you love someone?” Poppy asked. “It’s all about the one who calms the storm,” Anika explained, “It’s your dancing partner, drinking buddy, lover, adventure buddy, stare at the stars and talk about life, and best friend in one.” Aleena began to swoon at the thought. Prompt; Your story begins when someone says: "Don't panic, but..."
"Don't panic," Poppy told her group, "But, I think we're being followed." "You are being overly dramatic," Ruby said, "No one is following us." She turned around in a circle as if to prove her point and began to walk backwards laughing at Poppy's dramatic ways. Aleena let out a little squeak of surprise as arms grabbed Ruby, covering her mouth as they stuck a needle in her neck. Two more sets of arms reached out and grabbed Poppy and Aleena, giving them the same treatment that Ruby had received. Prompt: “I’m worried about you….” / ‘I don’t see why…I’m perfectly fine.” / “Nothing about you is fine, so why don’t you stop pretending?”
“I’m worried about you,” Lucas said, sitting down next to Alice as she stared into the fire. “I don’t see why….” Alice said with a shrug, without even bothering to look over at Lucas, “I’m perfectly fine.” She bit the inside of her lip as she tried to keep herself together. The truth was that she was far from fine. She was falling apart inside and no one could see it. “Nothing about you is fine,” Lucas said. No matter how hard she denied it, he could see that she was far from fine. He wrapped his arm around her shoulders and gently nudged her head toward his shoulder. “So why don’t you stop pretending?” At his unexpected kindness, and question, Alice finally broke. Prompt: “Are you doing this to get my attention?”
Anika froze in her tracks. Kyron was in a heap on the floor. With her heart beating in her chest and her breath catching inside, she moved toward his motionless body. She gently nudged him with her foot. “Kyron?” she asked when he didn’t move, “Kyron?” she asked, louder this time. She knelt down and put her hand on him. Nothing. Not so much as a stir of breath. “Are you doing this to get my attention?” Anika asked hopefully as she gently shook him to try and wake him up, “Because if you are, you are a jerk, but you do have my attention.” Silence growled back at her. “Come on Kyron,” Anika said on the verge of tears, “Come on, wake up. Please. Please wake up. This isn’t funny any more.” Kyron still didn’t move. “Anika?” Saif asked gently. Anika whirled around to look at him. “Kyron is playing a stupid joke, even though it’s not funny anymore.” “Anika,” Saif said her name gently but firmly confirming that she was purposefully misreading the situation. “No,” Anika shook her head. She refused to believe it. Kyron was fine. He was just playing one of his stupid games. He would get up in just a minute and laugh about how worried he had made them all. “Anika,” Saif said again. Anika wanted to ram Saif’s head against the wall. Was her name the only word he knew how to say? She never thought the sound of her own name could make her skin crawl and put her entire being on edge. “Stop it!” she shouted, covering her ears with her hands, “Just stop it, okay?!” Saif didn’t say another word, he simply walked to her side and sat down beside her. “He’s just trying to get attention,” Anika said after the silence had grown uncomfortably long and she couldn’t take it any longer, “He’s fine. He has to be. I can’t stand it if he’s gone. I need him.” “You will be just fine,” Saif said. Anika gave in to the tears. Prompt: “Are you okay?” What’s wrong -” / “No! You don’t get to ask me that. Not anymore….”
Anika curled up in a ball and began to cry. “Are you okay?’ Kyron asked, coming up to her, “What’s wrong - “ he started to ask but Anika spoke too quickly for him to finish. “No!” Anika shook her head, cutting him off as she rose to her feet, “You don’t get to ask me that,” she shook her head, getting ready to bolt, “Not anymore…” They were done. They weren’t a couple. He didn’t get to be her white knight anymore. |
