So this will be the last prompt I do for the next little bit. I will be back after the new year!
NaNoWriMo is done! (or will be by the end of the day). I am proud to say that I finished it! I finished the challenge! I wrote a novel! I am really happy with this accomplishment. For those of you who have done this journey as well, congratulations. Whether you have finished or not, I'm proud of you. It was a huge challenge to undertake, and finished or not, it's impressive! Prompt: “Whatever possessed you to do that should possess you more often.” Gabriella sat in the corner, curled up in a ball. She was freezing, and the outfit that her captor had put her in did little to nothing to ward off the chill. She was shaking so hard that her teeth were chattering. “Here,” Geoffrey said, slipping off of the bed and pulling the blanket off of the bed and placing it around Gabriella’s shoulders, “You need this more than I do.” “You’ll be cold,” Gabriella said with her teeth chattering. “But you’re an ice cube,” Geoffrey said, “I’ll survive. “Share?” she asked. Geoffrey nodded, and wrapped his arms around Gabriella while he snuggled down underneath the blanket. The body heat added a little extra warmth to help heat them up. They sat curled up around each other until Gabriella found herself leaning her head against Geoffrey’s shoulder. Geoffrey couldn’t help but watch her. He looked down at her. Suddenly, she glanced up at him and their eyes met. Geoffrey suddenly bent his head down, his lips meeting hers in a light touch. “I’m sorry,” Geoffrey said, “I don’t know what possessed me to do that.” “Whatever possessed you to do that should possess you more often,” Gabriella mumbled. Geoffrey froze, had he really heard what he heard? Gabriella froze. She couldn’t believe it. She couldn’t believe she had just said that. What was she thinking?

Well, since it's the day after Thanksgiving, the day after all our families got together to eat, why not have a prompt about meeting the family? :p.
Prompt: Then, as quickly as possible, I blurted out, “I want you to meet my family!” Gabriella turned to leave. She had said everything she had come to say, and now it was time to make a clean break of it all. Nothing jagged. Nothing dangling. All the ends tied up in nice little bows. Geoffrey watched as Gabriella walked away, she was getting further and further away from him, leaving him behind. Suddenly, without even thinking she shouted out, “Gabriella, wait!” Her heart sunk, but she stopped and turned around to look at Geoffrey. Geoffrey’s eyes widened. He didn’t really know where to go from here. He hadn’t thought this through. He had just opened his mouth and words had come out. Now he needed to say something. He needed some reason to have stopped her. “I want you to meet my family!” Geoffrey blurted out as quickly as possible. He wasn’t sure why he said that. They weren’t necessarily in the family meeting phase of their relationship, but it was the first thing that had popped into his head, and therefore was the thing that came spewing out of his mouth. “What?” Gabriella asked. “I want you to meet my family,” Geoffrey said softer, walking toward Gabriella and grabbing her hands, “And I want you to meet mine.” The repeat of the words made them sound less ridiculous than when they had come spewing from his mouth the first time. It seemed right. It actually seemed perfect. “Have you thought about this?” Gabriella asked, “Really thought about this?” Meeting the family was dangerous territory. She had never actually met the family. None of the people she had dated had made it to the meeting the family point. The relationships had all broken down way before that point. She wasn’t sure that the two of them were at that point. She knew in fact that they weren’t. They didn’t know each other. Not really. It was all just a lie that their minds had created after being cooped up with each other for so long. It wasn’t real, and she didn’t want to hurt him like that. She didn’t want to meet his family and have their hearts crushed when it ended. It was already hard enough with just the two of them. She couldn’t handle dealing with the family too. Hey guys! It's Thanksgiving!
Today doesn't have a prompt. Just enjoy being with your families today. If you are traveling, travel safe, it's crazy out there today. If you aren't, thank goodness, and stay safe and warm inside. Thanksgiving is nearly upon us. For those of you who are traveling for the holidays, travel safely. Be safe, stay warm.
Prompt: "You're real. You're alive. You have to be. You're alive to me." / "I'm sorry but they killed me a long time ago." “What are you doing here?” Kyren asked, staring up at Adeline as she walked into the cell. He had placed her in Mylo and Kilo’s care. She should be getting taken to a safe house. They were supposed to be protecting her, not bringing her into danger. That hadn’t been the arrangement . “I need to show you something,” Adeline said. “What?” Kyren allowed Adeline to take his hand, and lead him far away. The scenery passed by him a blur, not affording him the luxury of getting to look at what was passing before him. He had just gotten used to the speed, when they came to a crashing halt. “Where are we?” Kyren asked, looking around. They seemed to be in a cemetary of some sort, but as to why, he couldn’t answer that. “Look around,” Adeline said. Kyren glanced around, still curious as to what they could possibly find there. He finally looked down, and realized why he had been brought there. “No,” he shook his head, “No, this can’t be happening.” He couldn’t believe it. It was too much for his mind to comprehend. “You’re real. You’re alive. You have to be,” Kyren said, “You’re alive to me.” “I’m sorry,” Adeline said softly, her heart aching for him. She hated that she had to tell him this. She hated that she had to be the one to give him this news, but there was nothing more for it, and he needed to know the truth, only then could he make an educated decision, “But they killed me a long time ago.” “No,” he shook his head, “That’s not possible.” That wasn’t possible. She was right there. She had been right there the entire time. She had been standing in front of him. He had done all of this for her. This couldn’t be real. No, she couldn’t be dead. It wasn’t possible. He was supposed to have saved her, protected her from the death that was supposed to happen to her. “I’m gone,” Adeline placed a hand on Kyren’s shoulder, “I have been for awhile,” she gestured to her headstone. “The entire time?” “The entire time.” Just a reminder as December is quickly approaching, Torri and I will be taking some time off from our prompt writing....the entire month, in fact. I will post a message to the homepage. So, don't freak out when you have to go an entire month without a prompt from us. It would be a great time to re-read some of your favorites, or come up with some of your own prompts. We'd love to have suggestions on a prompt you think we should write on next. Thank you for understanding, and enjoy these last few prompts before the break. Yesterday's prompt was to just get your word count in. I'm almost there, I have 600 words left!!!
Today's prompt: Prompt: You look really cute with your new hair cut, but I'm biased because I thought you were cute before. "Is that a new hair cut?" Jenny asked. "Yes," Mike confirmed. "You look really cute," she smiled, "But I'm biased, because I thought you were cute before too." "Thanks," Mike smiled, "Wait, what?" he asked, as what she said dawned on him. Jenny smiled and walked away. Prompt: I just want to eat frosting and mope, leave me alone!
"Hey, what are you doing?" Joan asked, coming in and laying next to Adeline on her bed. "Nothing." "You have a container of frosting on your desk." "Very observant." "Usually when people are eating an entire container of frosting, it doesn't mean good things. In fact, it means things are going pretty bad," Joan said, getting up and getting Adeline up into a sitting position. "Just leave it alone, okay?" "No." Adeline was her friend and she wasn't just going to sit there and allow her to wallow in her misery. "Come on, please?" Adeline begged, "I just want to eat frosting and mope. Leave me alone!" "Not gonna happen," Joan said, "We're going to go out and do something." Adeline stared at Joan. Seriously? If she was willingly going to go out, if she was suggesting going out, it meant that Joan was serious. Adeline didn't remember that ever happening to her. Joan was always the one who would drag her feet kicking and screaming to any activity that was planned. Adeline did't know how to react to this situation. It was totally unsuspected. "Okay," Adeline said slowly, looking at Joan like she had lost her mind, because in reality, it might as well have been true. "Great, come on, on your feet," Joan said, clapping her hands and acting like she had a lot more energy and was more excited about this idea than she actually was, in order to motivate Adeline to get to her feet. Adeline groaned. She guessed she didn't have a choice. She had to do this. She was going to go out with Joan. We are back to NaNoWriMo prompts. As always, I hope you enjoy this prompt.
Prompt: You'll no longer love me if you see who I truly am. “Why do you care so much?” Adeline asked, looking over at Kyren. He had been the only one to come visit her in the asylum. Maybe. Or maybe her friends were rights, she was really going crazy and Kyren was only a figment of her imagination. After all, now that she did some recollection, she had never seen him interact with any other person. Ever. Not even when he was at parties. People even seemed to walk through him, almost literally, as if they didn’t see him there. Maybe she really was the only one who could see him. If that were the case, it was so different from what she was used to with characters. Her characters would come to her, but she always knew why they were there. They were there to tell a story. She knew other people couldn’t see them. She always had that knowledge. They were real only to her. But she could have sworn Kyren was real. She would have bet good money that he was real, and that he wasn’t just a figment of her imagination. She hadn’t realized that hallucinations could be so real, so lifelike. “Because,” Kyren said slowly as he reached out to touch her. It was as if on some instinctual level, he knew that she needed physical contact. He knew that she needed to feel him, to know that he was real, and he was, in fact, there and real, “Because,” he said again, as the physical contact made him suddenly lose his train of thought, “I love you.” Adeline’s head turned suddenly in his directions. A mixed bag of emotions flooded over her face. Confusion. How could he love her? What did that even mean? That didn’t make any sense. It was soon followed by disbelief. He honestly didn’t love her. He couldn’t. No one loved her, not like that, not really. The one person who she had thought had loved her like that had been a lie. It was just some kind of weird trick that he was playing on her. As that thought crossed her mind, her disbelief was filled with fear. A fear so overwhelming it immediately caused her stomach to knot and writhe in pain, making her more than a little uncomfortable. No, he couldn’t love her. No. Why did he have to say such a thing? What was going to happen? Was he going to lock her up too? Was it some kind of trick? “No you don’t,” she said finally. Kyren stared at her. Of all the things that he thought she would say, ‘No you don’t,’ did not even make the list. “I do,” Kyren said earnestly, “I love you. I have loved you for as long as I’ve known what love is.” “You have made a terrible choice,” Adeline said flatly as she got to her feet and walked to the far end of the room. “No,” Kyren got up and walked toward her, “I haven’t,” he gently turned her around to look at him, “You are an amazing person, and you are more than worthy of love, and I just hope that I get to be the person that loves you and you love back,” he moved his hands from her upper arms and into her hands. Adeline did a mental take. He was wrong on so many levels. She wasn’t amazing. She wasn’t worthy of love. She was a mess. She was falling apart at the seams. She was struggling, and failing, to keep herself together, but it was only making things worse. The harder she tried to stay together, the more she fell apart. Nothing she did was good enough. If Kyren saw that, if he truly knew her, and what was going on with her, he would realize that he didn’t love her, he only thought he did. “You’ll no longer love me if you see who I truly am,” Adeline said softly, looking down at her feet. “That’s not true,” Kyren leaned slightly to the side in order to get a glance at Adeline’s face, “I know you. I know you better than you think I do. I’ve seen it all, and you want to know something?” Adeline briefly made eye contact, but didn’t say anything. “I still love you,” Kyren continued, not waiting for an answer to his question, he hadn’t been wanting or expecting one anyway. Adeline glanced back at the floor, only to bring her eyes back to look at him for a moment, but a moment was enough and she looked back down at the floor as she got nervous. Eye contact was the worst. She never knew what to do with herself when talking to a guy she liked. People were always saying eye contact, but she had tried that and she felt like a creeper, or her face would go really red, and so she’d look away to hide the fact that she was turning into a tomato. “No you don’t,” Adeline said once again. She didn’t know why she was arguing with him. After all, he was just a figment of her imagination. He wasn’t real. Sure, he felt real, but that didn’t matter. No one else could see him, therefore, he must not be real. Kyren pulled her into his embrace, without a word. Arguing about this wasn’t going to get them anywhere. He let Adeline’s head rest on his chest and breathed in the scent of her green apple shampoo. Adeline put her head to his chest and listened to his heart, counting the beats she could hear and feel against her cheek. She closed her eyes and breathed in the scent that only a man can give off, and relaxed into his arms, feeding off the strength that they held. For the first time in weeks, the voices in her head were quiet. The feeling of dread, the depression, the anxiety, everything that had kept her up at night for days on end, evaporated. They couldn’t reach her here. With Kyren’s arms around her, she was safe. Nothing could get to her. The plan is that after this month, Atlantis' Problem (Title under construction :p) will be done and I can spend the next month or so revising and proofreading it. Hopefully sometime in January or February I'll be getting it published and up on Amazon. That is the goal anyway. I will keep you updated on how that is going, but if you've liked this month's prompts, keep an eye out for it. I will be adding this to the end of every prompt for the next 10 days and later to the front page of this blog: Due to how crazy the month of December can be with, finals, Christmas activities, family activities, Christmas, travel, etc Torri and I have decided to take the month of December off. We will return after the holidays. As always, thank you for your understanding and your patience, and enjoy your holidays :). Prompt: write your whole prompt today in hiaku
I don't like hiaku They make no sense to me. Hiaku are lame yo That is all today I am done with this prompt yo Good bye hiaku man Prompt: I think I broke him.
Kyren stared into the oblivion. His mind couldn’t seem to process what had just happened. He wasn’t even sure what he was doing it, or why he was doing it, but he started to rock back and forth in a steady, rhythmic movement. “All he needs is to be humming and he’d be officially in the looney bin,” Adeline said. She pulled the edges of her sweatshirt closed and wrapped her arms around her middle in order to keep the jacket closed. She wasn’t really cold, and didn’t really need to be wearing a jacket, but it gave her some comfort and that’s what she needed at the moment. “I think I broke him,” Adeline sighed, wiping the hair out of her eyes that had fluttered into her eyes. “You didn’t break him,” Irrot said. “Yes I did,” Adeline said, “I mean, just look at him,” she gestured toward Kyren who had, in fact, started humming in rhythm to his rocking back and forth, “He’s obviously broken, and I’m the one who caused him all that pain, therefore, I’m the one who broke him. This is all on me.” “No,” Irrot said. He put his arm around Adeline’s shoulders and drew her into an embrace. “It wasn’t your fault.” “It was,” tears were streaming down her face and she couldn’t control them, “I killed Annaleesa. She was his best friend, and I killed her. How could a person not break after seeing what he saw, after knowing what I’ve done?” “Look,” Irrot said, turning her so that he could look her in the face as he talked to her, “I don’t know what exactly happened back there, but I do know that you can’t be blamed for what happened.” “You said it yourself,” she shook her head, “You weren’t there. You didn’t see what happened. You don’t know what happened. I killed her. I was the one with the gun. I was the one who pulled the trigger. I was the reason she got shot.” Irrot pulled her closer to him and let her sob into his chest for a moment. Then, when she had cried for a few minutes, he pushed her away for a moment and wiped the tears away from her cheek. “It wasn’t you. You were under Garland’s control. You may have been the one who physically pulled the trigger, but it wasn’t your fault. Garland was the one who was in control. He was the one who killed Annaleesa. Not you.” Adeline shook her head. She didn’t believe a word he was saying. Irrot hadn’t been there. He hadn’t seen what had happened. She had been mere moments away from shooting Kyren. She would have shot him, if it hadn’t been for Annaleesa. If Annaleesa hadn’t pushed Kyren out of the way, and taken the bullet for him, Kyren would be the one who was lying dead on the ground in a puddle of his own blood. The thought made her tremble, and she didn’t know which one was worse, knowing that she nearly killed Kyren, or the fact that she had actually killed Annaleesa. Irrot pulled Adeline into his arms and let her cry. She was trembling so hard that she began to shake Irrot’s unshakeable frame. |
