Here we go! We get to see a new side to Aiden :). I'm excited, are you?
Prompt: “Shut up! We don’t have time to be afraid right now!” Aiden’s mind raced as the rest of the group slept quietly. As he tossed and turned he almost wished that it was his turn for the watch, at least that would mean that he was doing something instead of constantly trying to fall asleep, which was just making it worse rather than better. Even Felicia, Ms. I Never Sleep In The Castle, was fast asleep in her sleeping bag. She looked like she was dead to the world and nothing would wake her, yet he knew from experience, that even the slightest sound out of the ordinary would have her up with a weapon in her hand, ready to attack. Aiden sat up as quietly as he could. Tossing and turning was getting him nowhere. He slipped out of his sleeping bag and stepped over a sleeping Hunter. Aiden almost rolled his eyes in exasperation. Even Hunter- Hunter who NEVER slept- was sleeping. These people who seemed to know the night as well as the day, these people who only seemed to sleep when they blinked, were able to sleep like the dead, while Aiden, who usually was able to sleep through anything, couldn’t get his mind to rest. It wasn’t fair. Aiden wanted to kick Hunter as he stepped over him, but that would have defeated the purpose of being quiet, and would not only waken Hunter, but Felicia, too, and then the whole camp would awaken and be aware of his insomniac tendencies this night. He made his way over to where Aiden was keeping watch. Even in the dark, Aiden could tell there were bags under Allen’s eyes, and they were beginning to droop. He was leaning heavily against a tree, his head constantly bobbing as he tried to stay awake. “Hey,” Aiden said, quietly, putting a hand on Allen’s shoulder. Allen startled and looked up, soon relaxing when he noticed his friend standing there. “What’s wrong?” Allen asked. “I’ll take the rest of the watch,” Aiden said. Allen didn’t even move to protest. He knew Aiden well enough to know that it was nearly impossible to change Aiden’s mind once he decided something, and Allen didn’t have the strength, energy, or desire to get into a circular argument which would lead to the same conclusion anyway, so Allen got to his feet and dragged himself to his sleeping bag. He was asleep before his head even hit the ground. Aiden made the rounds, keeping an eye out for anything out of the ordinary. His heart was racing. His slick palms were making it difficult for him to hold his sword and he sheathed it rather than drop it. He tried to take a deep breath to calm his nerves, but it did nothing to calm the shakiness or the racing thoughts. “Shut up!” he finally cried to himself, to the voices that were shouting too loudly inside his head. “Shut up!” this time he whispered it out into the world. Wasn’t it said that words had more power that way? The words needed to be let out, given to the universe, even if softly, even if written down. They needed to be released, and they could only do that if they came out vocally or written in black and white. He glanced over at Felicia and Hunter, hoping that his talking to himself hadn’t woken them. They didn’t stir. Little did he know, that Hunter had been awake from the moment Aiden had stepped over him, he had seen and heard everything. “Just shut up,” he continued to whisper to the voices in his head. He continued to pace, hoping that the extra exercise would help ease the anxiety that was coursing through his mind and body, making everything feel as if it was running a marathon of its own. “We don’t have time to be afraid right now!” he whispered to himself firmly, trying to shut down all the fearful voices in his head. Hunter smiled sadly. Behind the debonair smile and attitude hide a scared and frightened man- a man who had gotten himself in too deep, but had too much pride to back out now. A small tap to his hand let him know that Felicia had heard it too. Softly, she got out of her sleeping bag and made her way over to Aiden. Hunter allowed himself to drift back to sleep. Felicia could handle this on her own.

I saw today's prompt and my mind immediately went to Aiden and Felicia and their.....odd, relationship.
Prompt: “Has she asked about me?” / “Yes, she has. I believe her exact words were, ‘What can I do to get him to leave me alone?’” Aiden saw his friend in the doorway. Felicia had just stopped in her fleeing of Aiden to talk to Allen and was now storming away again in a huff, although less of a huff than before. Aiden swaggered over to Allen. “Did she ask about me?” Aiden asked with a smug smirk, as if he already knew the answer to that question. Felicia could rant and rave and bluster all that she wanted, but he’d get her in the end. He just knew it. No woman could resist his charms. Not even Felicia. He would make sure of that. After all, he had a reputation at stake. “Yes, she did,” Allen confirmed with a nod of his head. He almost burst out laughing at the sight of Allen’s face. It was full of hope and excitement. Like a kid on Christmas who knew he was getting what he had asked for, but hadn’t yet opened it to confirm it. “I believe her exact words were,” he paused for dramatic effect, as if trying to remember EXACTLY what she had said, “’What can I do to get him to leave me alone?’” Allen finished. This time Allen couldn’t resist. He burst out laughing as Aiden’s face crumpled. He had opened the present and all the build up had been for nothing. It wasn’t the present that he wanted. It wasn’t even close. “At least I’m on her mind,” Aiden said, perking up as he tried to look on the bright side. One day, he didn’t know when, but Felicia would ask about him. She would realize that she loved him, and ask about his true feelings for her. He’d get her there. He’d make her fall for him. I really like this prompt, I hope you do too :).
It's always a good prompt with Carrie and Hunter :). Don't tell me you didn't see that coming (:p). Prompt: “You don’t care.” / “Yes, I do-“ / “No you don’t! If you really did, you would have come back a long time ago, instead of leaving me to deal with it all on my own.” / “I was busy…..” / “And I was broken.” Carrie watched as Hunter walked through the door, a book in his hand. That was strange. She had never seen Hunter read before, well, not normal books at any rate. He was used to reading things that made you think, he read contracts, maps, plans, histories, strategies. She had never seen him read a book that was just a book, something that was meant to take you away from your world and transport you into a different life, a different story, even if it was for just a moment. Hunter caught her staring at him. An uncertainty that he didn’t know how to handle started to creep up on him, eating away at his insides. Only Carrie could make him feel so uncertain, so unsure of what he was supposed to be doing, or saying at any given moment. Slowly, he made his way over to her side. “How are you feeling?” he asked. Most of the castle, most of the village in fact, had already gone to bed. Even Felicia, the mansion’s midnight wanderer had made her way back to her bedroom, finally finding the sleep that so often alluded her. “You don’t care,” Carrie said. Ever since Hunter had gotten her out of that prison cell, he had been avoiding her. Or at least that’s the way it seemed to her. He had recently disappeared for a week. She had no idea where he was or what was happening to him. Now here he was, having the audacity to ask her how she was doing, like he cared how she was doing. He didn’t care about anything. Lauralie had been right. “Yes, I do-“ Hunter said slowly, almost hurt that Carrie didn’t believe him. “No,” Carrie cut him off before he could even think to say something else, “No, you don’t!” she shook her head and jumped to her feet, “If you really did,” she said, turning around. She couldn’t look at him. The sight made her feel simultaneously angry and guilty, and she needed to get this out. “You, you would have come to get me a long time ago, you wouldn’t have left again so soon, you, you wouldn’t have done that.” She turned back to look at him, and found him standing as well, looking very much like a deer in the headlights as she ranted like she had ranted the day she had gotten back, and just like that time, her anger was directed straight at him, justified or not. “Instead you left me to deal with all of this on my own,” she gestured to the mess she had become. “I,” Hunter stammered, “I was busy…..” he finished lamely. He had a kingdom to run, a war to fight, secrets to find out. He had a job, a responsibility that he couldn’t ignore. And anyway, she hadn’t been talking to him. She had been ignoring him, refusing to even look at him when he would walk through the door. Honestly, he hadn’t thought that she would have even noticed that he was gone, let alone get angry about it. Plus, he had never left her alone. Not really. He had left her in the hands of the entire mansion. Her brother never left her side, which meant Felicia was constantly hovering nearby too. And of course there was Jesse. She would take care of Carrie better than anyone. Carrie had been in perfectly capable hands while he had been gone. He had trusted all of them with his life. He had trusted them with Carrie. “And I was broken,” Carrie whispered. Her heart ached. Lauralie was right. Hunter didn’t care about her. He cared about his mission, his end goal, she had only been a liability. He had only come to save her because it had been useful to him somehow. Suddenly the world got too overwhelming. It was too much to handle. She broke down and let the tears from her sorrow, pain, and torment, flood out of her eyes. Hunter gingerly moved toward her. When she didn’t back away, he wrapped his arm around her and guided her gently back down to the couch and let her sob into his shirt until she fell asleep. Welcome back. Thank you for bearing with us during the long break that we took. The holidays are some crazy times, and finals always fall around the holidays, so dealing with the stress of all the holidays and the finals can get a little overwhelming. So thank you for understanding why we took some time off to give us a little more breathing room.
I'm excited to announce that we are back :)! I've missed doing these prompts every day. I think this is a great prompt to return on, so, without further ado, here is today's prompt. Prompt: I’m the only daughter of a king who’s forgotten I exist. “And who do you think you are?” the soldier laughed at Isadora as she squared her shoulders and tried to appear as regal as possible. Although she hadn’t grown up as royalty, she had been born into royalty, and her mother’s blood ran through her veins. “I am your queen, and you shall give me the respect I deserve,” she said, looking down her nose at the soldiers as only a royal could do. “Sure you are,” the soldiers laughed. They grabbed her and threw her in her cell. “Who do you think you are?” Martin, a nearby cellmate laughed as she got to her feet in a huff. “I am the only daughter of a king who’s forgotten I exist,” she said softly. All her haughtiness, all her bluster, had gone out of her, leaving her empty inside. Who did she think she was? She wasn’t a queen. She wasn’t even a princess. She was a nobody. Someone stolen away in the night. No one remembered who she was. No one cared. Hey guys!
No, we aren't quite back yet. We have decided that since Christmas is this week, we'd just take this week off too so that we can focus on family time and getting everything ready for Christmas. We will be back sometime after Christmas. Thank you for your patience. Merry Christmas! Happy (holiday you celebrate)! Whatever holiday you are celebrating this season, I hope it's a good one and is filled with peace, joy, and happiness. As you've probably noticed, I haven't posted in awhile. That is because my friend Torri (who has been on this journey of blogging with me) and I have decided to take a break since it is finals week.
So, we are going to focus on making sure we get through finals week :) and we will see you later. Prompt: Study/work on your finals!
For the last few years we haven't really done a lot of prompts in December. We usually take a little break for it all and pick it up in the new year. That's because life can get kind of crazy during December with the holidays and the stress of finals, it can get a little overwhelming. But since Torri and I haven't really taken a break in December, but with finals still a thing to worry about, I decided to take a break for today and just focus on finals. Thank you for understanding. And for those of you still in school......STUDY!!!!! :) We'll see you back here tomorrow. Prompt: You smile like an idiot when you talk to her.
"Everyone knows you like her," Aiden whispered in Allen's ear as Felicia walked away from yet another incident with Aiden. "What?" he asked, turning to look at his friend. "You like Felicia," Aiden said, "Everybody knows it." "What?" Allen asked. Everybody knew? Aiden knew? He hadn't wanted to hurt Aiden, especially not this way. Allen knew that Aiden liked Felicia, and that had caused Allen to try and hide his feelings for Felicia as much as possible, especially around Aiden. "It's alright," Aiden said, "Go for it," he smiled, pushing his friend, "You have my blessing." "Blessing?" Carrie asked, looking between her brother and his friend, "For?" "Nothing," Allen said. "To be with Felicia?" Carrie asked. "How?" Allen asked, looking between his best friend and his sister. Did really everyone know how he felt around Felicia? "Oh come on," Carrie laughed, "You smile like an idiot when you talk to her." Allen's gut clenched. "Don't worry," Carrie said, "She's oblivious. People in situations like this always are." When you need cookies, you need cookies :).
Prompt: “Why are you baking cookies? It’s 3 am.” / “I want cookies.” / “At 3 am?” / “I’ve learned not to question how my mind works.” Alec slipped into the kitchen and stood in the doorway, watching Livianna making her way about the kitchen, grabbing different ingredients to make what looked like yet another batch of cookies. Cookies of all flavors lined the countertops and kitchen table. Every available surface was covered with cookies, and yet, here Livianna was, making yet another batch. “Why are you baking cookies?” Alec asked, staring at Livianna. This had to be a dream. This couldn’t really be happening. He glanced at the clock. It was 3 am. Yes, this definitely had to be some kind of dream. “It’s 3 am,” he murmured more to himself than to Livianna. “I want cookies,” Livianna smiled at Alec and shrugged her shoulders as if it was perfectly normal for someone to be up at 3 am making cookies. With all the stress she had been dealing with over the last few days, she hadn’t been able to get to sleep. So, she figured instead of trying to fight it, she would just give in and get herself up and doing something, and with her craving for cookies, she figured she could kill two birds with one stone. “At 3 am?” Lance asked. He never wanted anything badly enough to be awake at 3 am. If it happened before 10 am he was out. He wouldn’t sacrifice his sleep for anything. “I’ve learned not to question how my mind works,” Livianna shrugged. Alec smiled at the girl he had come to love more and more with each passing day. She certainly kept him on his toes, and all her little quirks just made him love her even more. “Well then,” he said, still smiling, “Mind if I help?” Livianna looked at Alec in surprise. Her nightly shenanigans often upset her other roommates, it was nice to see that not only did it not bother Alec, he seemed to enjoy it. “If you’d like,” she said with a shy smile. Even after all this time with each other, he still made her heart beat faster, and could cause her to blush in a way no other person was able to do. “I’d like,” Alec said with a smile and a nod. He picked up a hot pad and took the cookies out of the oven, while Livianna began cracking eggs. Prompt:

His cleaning person was always looking through his documents. He had thought they had been done with that once they started making machines to do all the hard work for them. They were machines, they weren’t supposed to be gossips. They weren’t supposed to butt into their private lives. Yet, somehow, he had gotten the one that decided that everything was its business and wanted to know everything that Gregory did. Little did he know that his cleaning person was trying to take over and become Gregory, and live his life for him. |
