Prompt: “If only he knew,” she thought and went to sleep. / “If only she knew,” he wondered and stayed awake.
Her heart was thudding. She loved him, she couldn’t deny that any longer. She had come to accept it. She breathed a sigh. ‘If only he knew,’ she thought, and she drifted off to sleep. He glanced up at the ceiling. His heart was thudding. That night had been magical. It was the best night he had had in a long time. He had finally realized what his feelings really meant. Now he knew. He had to tell her, he had to let her know. “If only she knew,” he wondered in his head, “What would she think? What would she do? Can I tell her? Does she feel the same?” His mind was whirling. The hour grew late, but he couldn’t sleep. Thoughts of her kept him awake.

Prompt: Living in the gutter we learned early to abide by different rules, different gods.
Ava looked around nervously at the little shack she had been brought to. Liam gently urged her inside, talking all the while, “It’s not as bad as it looks In fact, it can be quite nice. I know it’s probably not what you are used to, but living in the gutter we learned early to abide by different rules, different gods.” “Gods?” “Yeah, we follow the god of thieving and food, not wealth and richness and fame, like most people out there,” Liam pointed outside the shack. They lived in a different world, but he wouldn’t change it for the world. I love Hunter and Carrie....they are so adorable. They are the best.
Prompt: “That’s not a happy story.” / “I don’t have a happy life.” “Couldn’t sleep either?” Carrie asked, as she walked into the study and found Hunter sitting on the couch. Hunter was at the ready, knife in hand. Carrie put up her hands in mock surrender. “Sorry,” he said. “Not a problem,” Carrie smiled, as Hunter eased the knife back into his relaxed position. She walked over to him and sat down next to him, she took his arm and wrapped it around her shoulders as she leaned into him. “I can’t sleep. Tell me a story,” Carrie glanced up at him. Hunter sighed, and began telling her a story. “That’s not a happy story,” Carrie said at the end of it, still not ready to go to sleep. “You are supposed to tell what you know,” Hunter shrugged. “So?” “I don’t have a happy life. I don’t know happy stories.” “Well,” Carrie turned so she would be able to get a better look at him, “We’re going to have change that.” Hunter smiled and wrapped his arms tighter around Carrie, and let her lean into him. He held her as the two of them talked until she fell asleep. Prompt: “How dangerous,” she thought, “To finally have something worth losing.”
She glanced back at where Jeff was being held at gun pointing. She couldn’t seem to be too interested. She couldn’t be too aloof either. She’d have to handle this delicately. She chose to slip out and not let anyone know she was there. That would give her some time to figure out what she should do in this situation. She played with her earlobe as she thought out a plan. She knew she had to rescue him. It would be risky and she could be putting everything on the line for this. “How dangerous,” she thought, “To finally have something worth losing.” Prompt: “You’re beautiful.” / “You’re drunk and not going to like you said that in the morning.”
The party was in full swing. It was buzzing with activity, and all Anna could think of was leaving. She wanted to be with Michael, but he was out of town for the week, and her friends thought that she should go out and do things instead of wallowing, as they put it. “You know, you’re beautiful,” Parker said, his words slurring slightly as he wavered on his feet. “You’re drunk and not going to like you said that in the morning.” “I’m not drunk,” Parker argued. “Yes you are,” Anna moved away from him. “I’m being totally honest here.” Anna nodded her head, and moved away from him. He had been acting strange ever since she had started dating Michael. She was starting to worry about him. Prompt: “How do you remember that? You were very unconscious at the time.”
Jenica’s eyes fluttered open, and she looked over at Jaycob. It looked like he hadn’t shaved in days, and his eyes were red and looking a little bruised from the lack of sleep. She tried to sit up in her bed, but it seemed to take too much effort, and she didn’t have the strength to do that. “Jenica?” Jaycob rushed to her side, and helped her sit up in bed. “Water?” Jenica croaked. “Yeah, of course,” he reached for a pitcher, but it was empty, “Let me just go get some. Just rest, I’ll be right back.” He hurried out the door, nearly forgetting to take the pitcher with him. As soon as he walked out, Gemma walked in. “Hey Gemma,” Jenica croaked. “Hey Jenica,” Gemma smiled, “You’re awake!” “Yeah,” Jenica nodded. “Where’s Jaycob?” “He went to get water.” “I’m surprised he didn’t send out a nurse for that.” “Why would he do that?” “He hasn’t left your side since we found you. He’s hardly slept for the past few weeks.” “Really?” “He loves you.” The door opened, and Jaycob stepped in with a pitcher of water. “Well, I’ll just leave,” Gemma smiled, and walked out the door. “You’ve been by my side for weeks?” Jenica said, more to herself than to Jaycob, “You said you love me,” she searched her memory and remembered the jumble of voices in darkness. “How do you remember that? You were very unconscious at the time,” Jaycob said, all the blood rushing to his head. “It doesn’t matter,” Jenica shook her head. She didn’t want to get Gemma in trouble, and it didn’t really matter who told her, it only mattered whether it was true or not. “Did you mean it?” Jenica asked, she didn’t know if she really wanted to know the answer to that. She held her breath, waiting for the answer. “Yes,” he breathed, as he sat down on the bed and held her hand, “I did. I meant every word.” Tears began to stream down her face as she released her breath. “Don’t cry,” Jaycob said, “I’m sorry, I…” “No,” Jenica shook her head, “It’s okay. I’m not crying cause I’m upset.” Jaycob looked confused. “I just, I never thought I’d hear you say that.” “I think our patient needs some rest,” a nurse said as she walked into the room. “But,” Jenica argued. “It’s alright, he can come back tomorrow.” “But,” Jenica tried again. “It’s alright. I’ll come back tomorrow. I promise,” Jaycob leaned over and placed a kiss on her forehead before leaving the room. Prompt: Blinded
We walk around with blinders on We don’t see What we don’t want to see. It’s too hard. It threatens our little bubble. We’d rather live in ignorance. It’s there. It’s always been there. We’ve just been blind. I can’t be blind. My eyes have been opened. I can see clearly. I can’t go back To how it used to be. I can’t pretend. I can’t go back To the darkness, I’ve seen the light. The world is cruel. The world is hurting. The bubble isn’t safe. It never really was We just liked to pretend. We felt better that way. But it’s there, Lurking, Always there. Open your eyes. Don’t be blind. Open and see. Prompt: In the end, I didn’t miss him but the memories from before.
I missed him so much. He had been my everything. He had held my heart hostage. I couldn’t breathe without him. He was my world. And suddenly he was gone. Disappeared from my life. Never to be seen again. I learned to live without him. I took back my heart. I lost him, But I found me. In the end, I found I didn’t miss him, But the memories From before it all went wrong. Prompt: I’m painting my roommate’s room with her and you live across the hall and I kind of tripped and spilled a bucket of glitter on you but hey the look suits you.
The room was a mess. We had put drop cloths down to prevent anything from getting on the carpet. My roommate was wanting to try a totally different look for the room, and I, being the good little roommate was going along with it. Although I wasn’t too sure about the glitter. “Hey,” you knocked on the door as you poked your head in. “Hey,” I smiled back. My heart was fluttering at just the sight of you. “Hey, great, we could use another hand,” my roommate smiled, practically dragging you inside the room. I turned away. I wanted to hug her and throttle her at the same time. I loved that she would get you in here to spend time with us, yet I hated her, cause it was embarrassing, and I now had you in a room, without any idea of what to do next. “Here, let me help you with that,” you said, coming to my aid as I picked up some glitter. It startled me, and glitter went everywhere. You stepped back, but there was no escaping the glitter, and now it’s all over your hair. You tried to brush it out, but it’s glitter, that isn’t going to come out any time soon. “I am so sorry,” I really was serious, but I couldn’t help but laughing because you just looked so cute right then, the glitter in your hair made you just look so sweet and childlike and I wanted to hold and kiss you even more. “It’s alright. It’s my fault,” you said. “No, no,” I said, trying to help you with the glitter, but it was just making a bigger mess. “Well, um,” you cleared your throat and looked uncomfortable, “I should go.” “Yeah,” I said, “Sure, you need to get the glitter out.” You practically fled the room. I understood, but it still ripped a hole in my heart to see you flea so quickly from me. Prompt: “I wish I could forget you. Like how you forgot me.”
I loved you. I won’t lie, It wasn’t love at first sight. Or even first or second… But slowly, Something changed. I found myself drawn to you In a way I never felt before. I found myself thinking of you, Constantly. You were always on my mind. Always there. But you weren’t mine. You didn’t even notice me. I was nothing to you. Just a person in the crowd. Someone easily overlooked, And forgotten. You are gone now. Alive, but not mine. Living a life with someone else. I still can’t get you out of my mind. I still can’t forget you. You’re always in my mind. I wish I could forget you. I wish I could remove you from my mind. I wish I didn’t think of you. I wish you were gone forever. I wish I could forget you. Like how you forgot me. |
