Hey guys!
Life is getting crazy, and so I will be taking a break for a little bit on my blog posting. I'll be back in a week or so. Thanks for your patience and understanding.

Prompt: “I don’t think this axe is sharp enough.”
Aaron was swinging the axe over and over again, hardly getting anywhere with the wood chopping. “Doing any good?” Felicia asked, walking up to him. “Not really,” Aaron shook his head. He had seen Hunter and Felicia do something similar every time they got upset, and it seemed to help them focus their thoughts and work out whatever was bothering them. Well, they went to fight, but it was the same basic principle, at least that’s what he had thought, but it didn’t seem to be working for him. Not this time. “You know, I don’t think that axe is hardly sharp enough to be chopping up wood,” Felicia said. “I know,” he took one more swing at the wood block. “It’s okay,” Felicia said, noticing his defeated look, and the sudden slump of his shoulders. He leaned into her and allowed himself to grieve for the loss of his best friend and his sister. Emanuel strained against the binds that were keeping him on the stretcher, “Don’t touch her! Please, don’t touch her!” he cried, as their captors undid Lilita’s binds and started dragging her away from the prison, “Please. Take me instead. Do what you want with me, but please, don’t hurt her!”
Emanuel’s pleas fell on deaf ears. They didn’t listen to him, they didn’t care. They were going to do what they wanted and when they wanted, and the pleas of a simple prisoner wasn’t going to do anything to change their minds on the matter. “Lilly,” Emanuel cried, his bounds still as tight as ever, even though he struggled with all his strength to be free of them, “Lilly!” “It’ll be okay Manny,” she said to try and comfort but she was dragged away before she could do any real good. Emanuel continued to strain against his binding until he had no strength left to go on, and he leaned back on the bed, letting the tears fall silently down into his ears as he waited and held his breath for Lilly to come back, praying that she’d come back in one piece. Prompt: “And that’s the story of my life….”
Carrie walked over to him and sat next to him. “Are you okay?” she asked. She knew that he wasn’t. He had just lost his best friend and his sister in one fell swoop, it was too much, and there was no way that he was okay. He was a wreck and she knew it, she just wanted him to say it. “Fine,” he said with a shrug. “You are not,” she said. “Why did you ask if you already decided on the answer?” “Because, I wanted to give you a chance to say it.” Hunter simply stared at her. “You just lost your friend and sister. You’re hurting, and I know it.” “And that’s the story of my life,” he said with a shrug, as he stood up and walked away. Prompt: She wiped the blood from her cheek and picked up the sword. His eyes followed her blade as she pressed it against his neck./ “Don’t move.”
An arrow whizzed past, barely missing Carrie’s ear. She dropped her hold on Hunter as she ducked and pulled out her sword, getting ready for an attack. A man jumped out of the bushes, sword flashing in the sunlight. “Did you really think I’d just let you walk off with Hunter that easily,” the soldier chortled. “I figured there was a fat chance of that,” Carrie said. Her heart was pounding and her mind went blank. She couldn’t recall how to fight. She had lost all that she had been taught in training. All she could hope was that muscle memory would kick in with the adrenaline and she’d be able to remember how to fight. The man swung his sword. Her arm went automatically to block it, causing the metals to clang together, sending off sparks as they collided. They continued to fight, her muscle memory came back and she began to fight with a passion she didn’t know she had. She was going on pure instinct. The man lunged for Hunter, thinking to get a stab at him. He thought that if he killed Hunter then Carrie would lose her momentum and it would be easy to kill her off as well. However, what happened wasn’t what he expected. As he came to bring the sword down on Hunter, Carrie slipped her sword between the two of them. The suddenness of it caused him to lose hold of his sword, and it went scattering to the ground, as it flew through the air, it cut her cheek and caused a gash. Carrie wiped the blood from her cheek and picked up his dropped sword. The man’s eyes followed her blade as she pressed it against his neck. “Don’t move,” she hissed, breathing heavily. “You can’t do it,” the man stared her down, “You don’t have the guts to do it.” Carrie stared at him, hesitating. It wasn’t her first time fighting, but she had never had to kill someone in this way. It always was in a flash, so fast she didn’t even realize whether she had or hadn’t actually killed them before she had to go on to another one. This time she didn’t have that. She was staring right at him. She would know very well if she killed him. It was a whole different experience. A smirk spread across the man’s face. He had won. She wouldn’t dare do anything. She was too soft. Prompt: “I met him in the library today.”
Anna was curled up on a chair in the library. She hadn’t moved in hours, she was too absorbed in her book to notice all the comings and goings of the students who were studying or doing homework. “Hey,” a man said, coming up to her and sitting on the chair opposite her. Anna startled and glanced up. She blinked, trying to get the tendrils of the book she had been reading out of her mind and emerge into the real world. “Hi,” she said stupidly. “Hi,” the man smiled, “Good book you have there?” “Yeah.” “Figured. In the two hours I’ve been here, you haven’t moved, and it took me ten minutes to get your attention.” “Oh, yeah,” she blushed, her hair falling over her face, “That happens when I get involved in a book.” They chatted for a moment, until she realized that she had to get back to her apartment to get ready for this birthday party Gemma was throwing for Lance. All the decorations were set up, and guests were beginning to arrive. Anna gasped as one of them walked through the door. “What’s wrong?” Gemma asked. “I met him at the library today,” Anna said, still nearly shell shocked. She had had fun talking to him, but she didn’t think that she was ever going to see him again, let alone so soon, and in her own apartment. It was so strange. “Why is he here?” Anna asked. “His name’s Aaron. He’s Lance’s roommate.” Anna nodded her head. That meant she would probably be seeing a lot more of him. She didn’t know how she felt about that. Prompt: She nodded her head and tried to gulp down a breath.
“Are you okay?” Hunter asked, catching Carrie before she fell to the ground. She grabbed hold of his arms that were holding her up and nodded her head as she tried to take a breath. Hunter eased her onto the ground and got her settled. “Don’t lie to me,” Hunter said. “I’m fine,” she said quietly, trying to breathe through the pain. Jesse raced to their sides. “I think it’s time to take a break,” Jesse said, glancing at Carrie’s pale face. Hunter swooped Carrie up into his arms quickly and walked out of the training area, taking her back to the infirmary to get some rest. |
