Prompt: Why would you do that? I thought you loved me!
"Why would you do that?" Angelica asked, "I thought you loved me!" She couldn't breathe. Jeremiah had betrayed her trust. She could never look at him the same way ever again. She didn't know if she could ever forgive him for what he had done. Jeremiah started laughing, an evil, vicious laugh. A laugh she had never heard come out of Jeremiah's mouth before, it was a sound she never wanted to hear coming from his lips. "Who would ever love you?" Jeremiah said, "You are a pointless, worthless, shell of a human being, who doesn't deserve to breathe, let alone take up space. Everyone in your life would be better off without you in it." Angelica dropped to the floor and curled up into a ball, covering her ears with her hands. She couldn't take listening to Jeremiah's words any longer. She curled up and let out a scream, finding herself waking up in Jeremiah's bedroom, screaming her head off. Jeremiah, the real Jeremiah, was at her side, wrapping his arms around her, comforting her. Prompt: My life will end and so will yours so just kiss me anytime. "What are you thinking?" Jeremiah asked. Angelica was staring at Jeremiah with a strange look on his face. "I was just thinking," Angelica said slowly, "That I would really like to kiss you." She didn't know if it was because of where they were, the situation they were in, the fact that they could all die any minute, or a mixture of it all, but she couldn't help it, she had never wanted to kiss anybody as much as she wanted to kiss him. "Oh yeah?" Jeremiah asked, raising his eyebrows with a smile. He moved closer to her, leaning into her. "So," he asked, as their foreheads touched, "What's stopping you?" Angelica couldn't help but smile, thinking about their first kiss. She leaned in, closing the gap and kissing him, slowly, gently, as if it was their first and last kiss all wrapped into one. "My life is going to end," Jeremiah said softly as they pulled away from the kiss, "And so will yours. And we may never get out of here," he rested his forehead against hers and took her hands in his, "So, go ahead and kiss me whenever you want to." Angelica smiled and leaned in for another kiss. She might just take him up on that.

Prompt: His dark eyes took me in, and I wondered what they would look like if he fell in love.
Jeremiah's dark eyes took Angelica in, soaking up the sight of her like he was memorizing her face. Angelica stared back at him, looking into his dark eyes, watching as they glistened. As they stared at each other, Angelica couldn't help but wonder what it would look like if he fell in love. If his eyes glistened this much naturally, just how much more could they glisten as he looked at someone he loved? She would love to see that. She wanted to be the person who got that look, but she knew it would never happen. Prompt: "It's gone. All of it."
Still in a haze from everything that had happened within the last few days, Angelica made her way down the stairs and into the bookstore. She hadn't even thought what it would look like to Patrick and Marianna that she was coming down the stairs from Jeremiah's apartment, in the same clothes she had worn before. Patrick and Marianna both looked up at her as she finished clearing the stairs. Neither one said a word, but the pity in their eyes told her that Jeremiah had gotten ahead of the game and had told them at least some kind of story about what had happened the night before so they weren't shocked to see her coming out of his apartment. "How is everything?" Marianna asked gently. "It's gone," Angelica said numbly, "All gone." Her world was gone, evaporated like the smoke from her house. Speaking of house, she had to go to her place to see what, if anything could be salvaged. But she should probably go back to Kyle's and let him know that she was okay. But maybe she should go get some new clothes first. There were so many things she had to do, she had no idea where to start, or what to do first. So, instead, she simply stood there, staring at Patrick and Marianna, trying not to cry. "Why don't we get you home?" Jeremiah suggested. As he spoke, Angelica jumped and let out the loudest scream anyone had ever heard. The scream echoed around the room for several minutes. She put her hand on her heart as she tried to breathe slowly in order to calm her heart and bring it back down to normal. "Sorry," Jeremiah said. Angelica nodded her head in acceptance to his apology. "I'll take you back to Kyle's," Jeremiah continued, "And then go to your place and see what needs to be done there, okay?" Angelica could use a break. She needed a long shower and some sleep. Prompt: It has made me better, loving you.
Jeremiah stroked Angelica's cheek and pushed the hair behind her ear. "I'm not a perfect person," Jeremiah admitted, "But loving you, has made me a better person. Loving you has made me want to do better, be better." "You....," Angelica said breathlessly, "You still love me?" "Of course I do," Jeremiah said, shaking his head in amused amazement. Angelica put her forehead against Jeremiah's, closing her eyes and breathing him in, taking in this moment, and allowing herself to feel her feelings without having to really think about anything. "I love you too," Angelica said softly, after a moment of silence. "You do?" Jeremiah's heart leapt and a smile he couldn't contain spread across his face. He never thought he could be so lucky. He never thought that someone like Angelica could love him. He used his hand that was still on her neck from brushing her hair away from her face to bring her closer to him and kissed her. Prompt: What did you do?
"Uh oh," Skye said as Ryan came into the room, "What did you do?" Ryan had her, 'I did something you aren't going to like,' face on, and that was dangerous. So, it's not exactly gone wrong, because it doesn't actually go wrong, but it very nearly does, so there's that. It would have gone wrong if it hadn't been a moonflower - yes, if you know me you do understand the obsession with moonflowers.
Prompt: An apology gone wrong Prompt: Ask me to stay, and I will. I will drop everything else if you ask me to stay. Angelica made her way slowly toward the door, staring at it curiously, suspiciously. She hadn't been expecting anybody. With trepidation, she opened the door and revealed Jeremiah standing on her step, holding a flower in his hand. Angelica straightened up and pursed her lips together as she looked at Jeremiah and the flower in his hand. She wasn’t big on flowers. Everyone knew that. She expected better from Jeremiah. She knew that she shouldn’t feel upset by the fact that he brought her a flower, but she couldn't help it. She felt a twinge of disappointment that he didn’t remember that detail, and brought her a flower. “It’s a flower,” Jeremiah said. He held it out to her. “I see that,” Angelica said. She nodded her head as she examined the flower closer. It wasn’t just any flower. The flower he was presenting to her was a moonflower. Her eyes widened at the sight. A moonflower! He had remembered! “It’s a moonflower,” Jeremiah explained, saying what she had already realized, “I saw it and thought of you. I wanted to bring it to you and apologize once again.” He held the flower out to her. “I am so sorry.” Excitement rose inside Angelica’s chest. Not only had he remembered the moonflower, but he had come to her place with the flower to apologize once again. No one had ever taken such trouble to apologize to her before. No one had taken such care to get back into her good graces. She couldn’t help the goosebumps that were rising happily on her arms. “So?” Jeremiah asked. His eyes widened with the question, getting wide as he silently pled for forgiveness. “We’re okay,” Angelica smiled. She took the flowers from his hand and lifted them to her nose, taking a big sniff. “You sure?” Jeremiah asked. Angelica smiled into the flowers as a smile lit up Jeremiah’s face. It was lighting up with a sense of relief, knowing that he hadn’t ruined everything and that they were still friends. He stood there, shuffling his feet. He wanted her to ask him to stay, to come inside. If she ever asked him to stay, he would. He would drop everything else if she just asked him to stay. They looked at each other and smiled bashfully, not saying a word to each other. It was a look like they were almost lovers. It was a look like they should have kissed and escorted each other to bed. They looked at each other like they would wake up in the morning and laugh as they lay in bed together, but they did none of that. Instead of being lovers, they stayed friends. They smiled at each other, laughed with each other, more than friends, but never crossing that line, looking at each other with what ifs and could haves, always wondering, always an almost. Prompt: "You can't make me!" / "Watch me!"
"You can't make me!" Ryan said, folding her arms defiantly. "Watch me!" Charles growled. He was going to get his way this time if it was the last thing he did. Prompt: "Did you love him?" / "Yes." / "How much?" / "It doesn't matter because it wasn't enough to make him stay." "Did you love him?" Jessica asked. "Yes," Angelica confirmed sadly. "How much?" "It doesn't matter because it wasn't enough to make him stay." He had walked away from her without a second glance. Prompt: He was so easy to love. He made me feel safe. He made crossing a road feel like an adventure; with his hand of the small of your back. He laughed at things easily, he was soft, gentle, kind. He listened to the words, and to my silence. / "Come here," he would say, with his arms open wide, and I would go. / "Stay," he would beg, and I would stay. And I would stay.
"How can you love me?" Jeremiah asked. He couldn't wrap his mind around the fact that Angelica loved him. It didn't make sense to him. How could someone like her love him? "How couldn't I love you?" Angelica asked, shocked by his amazement. He was so easy to love. He made her feel safe. He made crossing a road feel like an adventure; with his hand on the small of her back. He laughed at things easily, he was soft, gentle, kind. He listened to the words, and to her silence. 'Come here,' he would say. He would open his arms wide and without hesitation, Angelica would rush into his arms. 'Stay,' he would beg. Angelica wouldn't hesitate. She would stay. Oh, would she stay. Prompt: He felt warm and familiar. He felt solid and safe. I wanted to cling to his shirt, bury my face into the warm curve of his neck, and never let go.
Jeremiah felt warm and familiar as he held Angelica. With his arms around her, holding her tightly, Angelica felt safe. Jeremiah's arms were safe and solid. Angelica wanted nothing more than to cling to Jeremiah's shirt, hiding her face away from all the pain and suffering in the world, and have him take over and let her rest. She wanted to bury her face into the warm curve of his neck and never let go. He was her safety. He was her rock. She didn't know if she could do this without him. Prompt: A matchmaking service
"How did you meet him?" Angelica asked. "I used a matchmaking service," Sarah said. "Really?" Were matchmaking services still a thing, in this day and age? "Hinge," Sarah laughed. Angelica rolled her eyes. Sure, online dating was fine for some people, and she knew several people who had met online and it worked out really well for them, but it never seemed to work for her. |
