Today's prompt....welcome back Ryan :).
Prompt: I'm not fragile or broken or the charred edges of burnt pages that blow away at the softest breeze. I am human and I bleed and bruise and cry and want and I will survive without you treating me as if I am glass. Excitement raced through the air, but a cloud of tension loomed in the distance, rushing forward at ever great speed. Ryan was allowed to leave the ward and come home. The group had made every kind of plan and adjustment that they believed was needed to keep Ryan safe and stress free. "Hey Ryan," Skye said softly as Henry walked into the apartment with Ryan. "Hey White Rabbit," Ryan said. As the days progressed, tensions mounted. Everyone was walking on eggshells, uncertain of what should be said or done around Ryan's fragile self. "Stop it!" Ryan finally snapped, "I've had enough!" Everyone stopped and stared at Ryan. They threw uncertain glances at each other, questions of what they should do looming in their eyes. "That! Stop it!" Ryan screamed, "I'm not fragile or broken or the charred edges of burnt pages that blow away in the softest breeze. I am human and I bleed and bruise and cry and want and I will survive without you treating me as if I am glass." The group looked awkwardly down at their feet. They had just received a tongue lashing from a three year old. It was humiliating. "I'm sorry," Kevin was the first to speak up, "I know you are perfectly capable of taking care of yourself. I'm sorry you've felt like we've been treating you like you aren't." "I'm not made of glass you know," Ryan restated. "Of course you aren't. We know that," Skye said. "Then stop treating me like I am! I'm not a child!" "Then stop acting like it," Lucy mumbled under her breath, only loud enough for Ryan to hear her. Ryan shot Lucy a killer look, ignoring the rest of the group's platitudes that they would try to do better. She would show them all how strong she was.

Prompt: Don’t you touch her. Hunter watched as Clara and Felicia took the stage to win back Allen. Felicia’s back was straight. She wouldn’t allow herself to be intimidated by these pigs. Her defiance just brought laughter to their eyes however. “Oh darling, you are gonna be fun,” the man said slimily. He brought his hand to Felicia’s cheek and began to caress it. Felicia tried to back away from his touch but was unable to do so. “Don’t you touch her,” Allen spat, trying to break free from the bonds but also unable to do so. “Oh, looks like that’s riled up our little pet,” the man sneered, just adding to his caressing of Felicia’s face. Each stroke sent disgust to build up in Allen’s gut and anger shuddering through his entire body. There was nothing he could do but watch as the men felt up his sister and Felicia, who, while he didn’t know exactly what was going on with them, knew that she meant a lot to him. He could only sit and watch and pray that Hunter had some kind of plan to get them all out of this mess. This prompt is for the 28. Sorry, this weekend was a bit hectic, so while I was able to write the prompts I wasn't able to post them....So here we go, play some catch up.
Prompt: You are always worth saving. “Why?” Evangeline asked into the darkness. She didn’t know if Alex was there or if he could hear her, but she had to know, “Why risk your life for me?” “Because,” Alex’s voice startled Evangeline. “But look at my past, look at what my parents have done. I’m not worth risking your life over. I’m simply not worth it.” “You are always worth saving. No matter how unworthy you may see yourself, you are important and always always worth saving, and I would do it all over again.” “But,” Evangeline hedged. “No buts,” Alexander cut her off, he placed the merest glimpse of a kiss on Evangeline’s’ forehead before he was dragged away. Prompt: He never believed in love at first sight, until he saw her.
Anthony rolled his eyes as his sister once again prattled on about her new boyfriend, and how they fell in love at first sight. It wasn’t as if he wasn’t happy for his sister, he actually was, and wished them every happiness, but the whole love from first sight was just a bunch of bologna. You couldn’t fall in love with someone on sight. It didn’t work that way. You had to get to know a person before you could truly love someone, otherwise it was just a type of lust. Granted, it was possible to fall in love quickly, or at first conversation, but not on sight. He held firmly to that belief with everything he had. He scoffed at love at first sight stories and fairy tales. That was, until he met her. She managed to turn his entire point of view upside down. He had allowed his sister to drag him to her company Christmas Party. He stood in the corner, minding his own business, hoping that his sister would grow tired and want to leave soon. It was during a cursory glance around the room that his eyes fell upon her. She was standing away from the crowd, as if she too, had been dragged somewhere she didn’t want to be. She had this soft glow about her that drew him to her. He couldn’t quite place it, but there was something about her that made him long to get to know her, to be around her. He wanted to be with her. She felt like home to him and he craved her presence. It was in that moment that he understood how you could fall in love at first sight, because the moment he saw her, he knew he was in love. Prompt: You survived what you thought would kill you. Now straighten your crown and move forward like the queen you are.
Ryan curled up in the corner, looking more and more like a little girl than the 24 year old woman that she was. Glass was sprayed all over the floor, tables had been knocked over, and bruises were beginning to form on Ryan’s upper arms, evidence of the struggle that she had just encountered. A gun was sitting on the floor next to her, still hot from being used, and blood was seeping out of the man’s body. “Ryan?” Kevin called out the moment he walked into the apartment, “Ryan sweetie, are you there?” He paused for a moment, straining his ears to listen for any sound, no matter how slight. He heard a slight moaning sound, and without realizing it, he began to move toward the sound. He glanced down at the body, momentarily taken back, but after checking for a pulse to make sure he was dead, Kevin moved on toward Ryan. She shrunk away from him. “Ryan,” Kevin said softly, “It’s ok. Hey Ryan, it’s me. I’m not going to hurt you.” Eyes wide with fear, Ryan glanced up at Kevin, and allowed herself to be carried out of the apartment and into Kevin’s car. They drove to the hospital in silence. Ryan, for once, was in no mood to talk, or make any noise whatsoever. She couldn’t breathe. She couldn’t believe that this was really happening. For years she had been able to put on an act, truly become Jess, and live that role without losing herself, without really having to worry about the danger. Even all the danger that they were in had seemed far removed from them. After all, Skye worried enough for all of them, so Ryan never had need to worry. It was a game to her, it was fun. Now, now all of that changed. Suddenly it was real. Suddenly the game had changed. It was no longer fun, it was full of danger, and in the end someone else was going to wind up dead, and she didn’t think she’d be able to handle that. She couldn’t lose anyone else like she had lost Hannah. With each mile that passed, she relived that moment over and over again. She had been watching a movie when all of a sudden the window in the living room shattered, and a man dressed all in black was bounding in with a hatchet in one hand, and a gun in the other. She immediately got to her feet, and began to rush toward her door. He threw the hatchet, and it landed with a thud in the door right as she was about to turn the knob. ‘Where do you think you’re going, darling?’ he sneered, as she turned around in fear. ‘Well, apparently to get a new door,’ she sassed. She couldn’t remember much of what happened after that. Everything had happened so fast. He had come up to her, they had struggled. Somehow she had managed to get the gun out of his grasp, and as he came towards her, she just pulled the trigger. She didn’t think, she just acted, and now a guy was dead because of her. She had never killed anyone before. Now, she was a murderer. “It’s okay,” Kevin said, as they got to the hospital, “You’re going to be ok.” “No….no….no,” she sobbed, “It’s not ok. It’ll never be ok again.” She was rambling, her inner child was starting to come out, to take her out of the haze of shock, and into something she could handle. “Hey, Ryan sweetie,” Kevin said calmly, trying to take her hand, to help comfort her. She shrieked and pulled her hand away from him. Kevin watched, heartbroken, as Ryan pulled away from him. *** “How’s she doing?” Skye asked the nurse on duty. “She’s doing as well as can be expected,” the nurse said softly, while she admitted Skye and Alysha into the sanatorium. The two of them watched Ryan. She had been in there for over a month now, and wasn’t any better than she had been when they had placed her there. Alysha couldn’t take it anymore, she waltzed over to Ryan. “Hey Ryan,” Alysha said. “My name’s Jess,” Ryan said calmly, blinking up innocently at Alysha. “Enough of this,” Alysha said. “Alysha,” Skye warned. Alysha didn’t heed, and continued on her path. “Ryan listen to me. You are stronger than this. I know you are. I’ve seen it. You survived what you thought would kill you. Over and over again, you survive. You’re a survivor. You’ve got this. Now straighten your crown and move forward like the queen you are.” Ryan and Alysha stared at each other, neither one willing to be the first one to back down. Skye pulled Alysha away. As much as it hurt, Ryan wasn’t ready to remember. Prompt: “No one will notice…..”
I’m slowly slipping away. Each moment of each day I am slipping further away. Disappearing into nothingness. I’m drowning, Trying to take care of everyone. I’m losing myself Trying to save everyone else. I bend over backwards Just to see you smile But no one will notice. No one ever notices. Sorry I didn't post yesterday, and I don't have a make-up prompt to appease you with, so you'll just have to deal with this one today. Hope you like it.
Prompt: Come away with me Liam stayed in the corner, keeping a disgusted eye on the bride and groom as they floated around the dance floor, dancing and chatting with their guests. Inside he was burning up with anger. He couldn’t understand why his family was forcing this marriage onto Ava. He couldn’t bear seeing Ava in the arms of Daniel. Liam’s eyes never drifted far from Ava’s form. He kept watch throughout the evening. He was the only one left standing there, staring at where the happy couple had departed. Somehow, someway, he was going to get back at them all for what they had done. He would figure out what they were doing that would cause Ava to do such a thing as she did that day. He kept with that promise. While Ava and David were away on their honeymoon, Liam was doing research. What he found astounded him. They had used him against her. Had threatened him in order to keep her in line, and doing everything that they wanted her to. He couldn’t wait for Ava to come back, so he could get her out of this place, away from his so called family. Liam held back when Daniel and Ava came back home. He didn’t want to seem too anxious. He didn’t want people to wonder or ask questions. He would wait to have his reunion later, when he and Ava were alone. “Ava,” Liam whispered as Ava stepped into the darkened study. He knew she would come back to the study. It had become their special place since that night that she had explained everything. “Liam,” Ava sounded startled, but not surprised to hear Liam’s voice. Liam walked to her side and wrapped her in an embrace. She clung to Liam with all her strength, as if she couldn’t hold onto him tight enough for her. She rested her head on his chest for a moment, and shoved her nose into his neck, as if trying to memorize his scent. “Ava, my Ava,” Liam breathed into her hair as he placed a kiss on top of her head. He too, wasn’t able to hold onto her tight enough, but he had to, he had to see her face, to talk to her, “Listen, I know all about it. I know everything. I know why my parents wanted you, and what they were doing in order to get you to do those things.” “Then you know that I had to,” Ava said, keeping her arms wrapped around Liam’s waist. “I know,” Liam nodded, “But you don’t have to do it anymore. They aren’t going to hurt me. Just come away with me. Let’s run away, you and me. They can’t hold us here any longer. We can be free.” “But we can’t,” Ava shook her head, “We can’t just leave….I can’t just leave,” Ava looked at him, her eyes pleading Liam to understand. “Don’t worry,” Liam stroked Ava’s cheek, “I wouldn’t even dare think about leaving without Penelope. We’ll take her with us. We can leave, together.” “But how? We can’t just pick Penelope up and run away. She doesn’t even know who I am, not really. She has no reason why she’d come with us, and what about the Jones’ or my parents? They’ll just keep doing this. Running away isn’t going to do anything. I want them to stop. I want all of it to stop, and it’s not going to happen if I just run away.” “Ok,” Liam sighed, “Fine, we’ll try it your way…just for a little while longer, but you have a month. That’s it. Then no matter where we are, what’s going on, we get Penelope and we leave.” Ava nodded. She could accept those conditions. It would give her a chance to get Penelope back, and put a stop to the madness. Then, and only then, could she happily, and easily just go away with Liam. They could start over. To all my Utah readers out there.....Happy Pioneer Day!!!! Prompt: It’s okay. I wouldn’t choose me either.
You look at me, But you don’t see me. Not really, Not the way that I want you too. You see me as a little girl A shoulder to lean on A friend, a confidante, But not a prospective girl… Not your girl…. Not the one for you. Rather the go to girl To help you get that girl. You don’t see me. Not really. Not the way I want you to. I’m always the friend But never the girl, But that’s okay. I wouldn’t choose me either. I’m not the type of girl People see, Not really…. Not like that… Why should I be? I’m not much to look at Staying within my head I don’t have much of a life. I’m nothing interesting. Nothing important. So it’s okay. I promise. I wouldn’t choose me either. Alrighty...this is today's prompt. It looks like I'm all caught up. I am so sorry for taking so long. Hopefully this redeems me in your eyes.

Prompt: “What are you so afraid of?”/ “You.” Liam looked at Ava. There was a fear in her eyes. A fear he had never seen before. She was strong, and not scared of anything. “What are you so afraid of?” Liam asked, choosing to take the direct route. “You.” Ava whispered, her eyes not breaking contact with him. “Me?” Liam was taken aback, “Why are you afraid of me?” “Because you’ve changed. You aren’t the same person that I met on the streets years ago. You aren’t the same boy who taught me how to make a living on the streets, the boy who saved the children. You aren’t that person anymore. You’re someone else, someone I don’t know, and that scares me.” |
