Happy Halloween!
Prompt: Happy Halloween Cobwebs covered every surface. Spiders got their little legs dancing all over the place. The drinks were smoking. Witches were cackling, ghouls moped around, and fairies fluttered. “It looks great!” Lance said, coming up and hugging Gemma. “Thanks,” Gemma smiled. “Happy Halloween,” Aiden said, coming up with a bag of ice. “Thank you,” Gemma said, taking the ice and walking toward the kitchen. Gemma kept glancing at Lance, making sure that he was having a good time, as she got more food. “Just tell him,” Ann whispered underneath her breath as she walked into the kitchen in all her regency glory. “Nothing to tell,” Gemma sing-songed. “Um hmm,” Ann didn’t believe it. The two of them had dressed up in a couple costume after all. She didn’t know it showed more love that they had each done it separately of each other, just happening to wear a costume that happened to be the perfect pair for the other. It was sweet.

Prompt: Candy Corn
The two of them wandered down the aisles of the grocery store, picking up different kinds of junk food at random. “What is that?” Anne asked as Aiden plopped a bag of candy corn into the basket she was carrying. “It’s candy corn,” he said, as if he was talking to a little child. “I can see that,” she said with a hint of frustration in her voice, “I was meaning, why are you putting this in our basket? We are trying to stick to a budget.” “It’s a Halloween party, they need to have candy corn.” “But nobody likes candy corn.” “But it’s tradition.” “I’m not spending my hard earned money on something that nobody is going to eat and we’re going to have to throw away at the end of the party!” If she had been a two year old she would have stomped her foot to get her point across. “But,” he began. “NO,” she said sternly. Aiden began to pout, but Anne refused to be moved. She stared him down. There was no way she was going to buy candy corn, not gonna happen. If he wanted to get candy corn he was going to have to pay for it himself, and not use the money they had budgeted for the party for it. “Fine,” Aiden finally caved, and returned the candy corn back to it’s original place. Prompt: “My goal in life is….” / “You’ve failed miserably.” / “You didn’t even let me finish my sentence.”
Aaron sipped on Root Beer in a bottle that looked like an actual beer bottle, and if anyone saw the way he was looking and acting they could have sworn that there was actually beer in that bottle, instead of the carbonated beverage. “Are you alright?” Laura asked, plopping down next to him. “Fine, fine,” his voice was slurred. Laura glanced at him and grabbed at the bottle. He didn’t have the sense of mind to stop her from taking it from his hands, he did however, mumble a little complaint. Laura sniffed at the contents, then gingerly took a sip of it, then another, larger one. After making sure that there was no alcohol in the beverage she looked at him and slapped him. “Ow,” he moaned like a little child, even pulling out a pouty face to go with it, “What was that for?” “You! What’s going on?” “What do you mean?” “You’re acting like you’re drunk. Your eyes are red, you’re slurring your words, you look like you’ve gone through a 12 pack in less than an hour, and all that is in this bottle is a soda...So what’s got you acting like this?” “You know what my goal in life is?” he asked, without answering her question, she wasn’t even sure he had heard her question, or heard anything after he got his bottle taken away, “My goal in life is…” “You have failed miserably,” Laura cut him off, drinking down the rest of the soda. “You didn’t even let me finish my sentence,” he whined. She rolled her eyes and got to her feet, pulling him to his feet and dragging him to his bed. “I don’t care what your goal in life is right now, okay. What you need to do is sleep off whatever it is that has gotten into you, and then once you’ve done that MAYBE I’ll listen to what your goal in life is,” she pushed him onto the bed and tucked him in none too gently and walked off. Prompt: Is the picture shown above
The chains hung from the ceiling, and bit into Hunter’s wrists as he moved to try and pick up the stale bread that they had allowed him to have each day. It wasn’t much sustenance and was not at all appealing or appetizing, but Hunter knew he needed to get something inside of him, for energy if nothing else. Prompt: Someone goes missing. Find them.
“Have you heard from the girls?” Skye’s family asked Ryan’s family. “No,” Ryan’s mother shook her head. “They checked in at the hotel, but they didn’t checked out. They sent someone up there, and their things are still there, but they aren’t. No one has seen them since the night they checked in,” Alysha’s father said. “That was the first night! That was weeks ago!” Ryan’s mother exclaimed. “Where are they now? Where could they possibly be?” Skye’s mother worried. They called the police, and explained the situation. The police took some statements and said they would do the best that they could. “They got a few more women in here,” Agent Douglas said in his report to his supervisor. “Describe them.” Agent Douglas went into detail describing Skye, Hannah, Ryan, and Alysha. “Sounds like the girls who went missing in Mesquite a few weeks ago.” “The timing is about right,” Agent Douglas confirmed, “Do you need me to get them out?” “Not yet. We don’t want to compromise the mission.” “But their parents are worried about them. Shouldn’t you at least tell them something, ease their mind a little?” “No.” “But…” “No,” Agent Douglas’ boss ordered, “Stay put and just do what you were sent there to do, nothing else.” Agent Douglas nodded his head as he disconnected. He didn’t know if he could just sit back and let these girls suffer the same fate of the other girls he had witnessed coming in and out of the doors since he had been there. Prompt: “Why are you avoiding me?” / “BEcause….Because I think I’m falling in love with you, okay? That’s why I’m avoiding you.”
“You’ve been avoiding me,” Susan glared, standing in the doorway of Agent Michaels office, her hands on her hips. For weeks he had sent Henry to give her the orders and would mysteriously be called into a random meeting whenever they got too close to each other. She was sick of it. “I...I don’t….,” Agent Michaels said, flustered, trying to figure out what to do, to say, and how to get out of the situation as quickly as possible. “Why are you avoiding me?” she strode into the room. “I don’t know what you’re talking about. NOw, I have to go.” “That,” Susan pointed out, “That right there. YOu always do that. You’re suddenly rushing off somewhere. Now, you have a free schedule. I checked. Now, talk to me.” “I,” he looked around. “Now tell me,” Susan sat on the edge of the desk, blocking him in, “Why are you avoiding me?” “Because,” he glanced at her and saw her waiting for an answer, “Because he started again, looking away from her, “I think I’m falling in love with you, okay?” he said softly, still not looking at her, “That’s why I’m avoiding you,” he hung his head. He shouldn’t like her. IT was wrong. He was her superior, and had to remain aloof and distant. He should request a transfer out of the department, but the thought filled him with dread, not just because of Susan, but because he had spent so long on this mission. He wanted to see it to the end. Maybe later, after everything was done with this mission and all the loose ends had been tied up. “You….” Susan said, trying to wrap her mind around it, “You love me?” “Yeah, well,” he cleared his throat and got to his feet and pushed past her and walked out of the room. “Aren’t you supposed to be at the safe house?” Geoffrey asked, seeing her still sitting on the desk. “I switched with Henry,” she shook her head. Geoffrey raised his eyebrows and pulled a Now and Later out of his pocket and handed it to her. “No thanks,” she brushed past him in a haze. Prompt: Write a spooky story
