This weekend was crazy, and I didn't have time to actually do any writing or posting. But I buckled down today and I got it done. So here is Friday, Saturday, and today's prompts. Saturday and today's prompt got mixed together, hope you don't mind. I'll continue to try and do better with making sure that I post every day.
Prompt: You're the crown prince of collateral damage “Collateral damage?” Saraphina cried, “You call this collateral damage?” “Yes,” Jason said simply. “Well, you know, you’re just the crown prince of collateral damage then.” Prompt: My phone died, that’s why. Prompt: I’m going into the woods to scream for awhile, want to come? “You left me hanging,” Gabriella cried, “When I needed you the most, you weren’t there. You were the only one who wasn’t there for me. Everyone else came rushing to my aid, but where were you?” tears were streaming down her face. “Well, see,” Carl tried to explain, “The reason for that is that my phone died, that’s why.” “But when you charged it? What about that?” Gabriella countered, “You still weren’t there. You still left me hanging.” “I’m sorry.” Gabriella turned and began to walk away. Charlotte saw her, and came to follow her. “Where are you going?” Charlotte asked, falling into stride with her friend. “I’m going into the woods to scream for awhile,” Gabriella explained, “Want to come?” Charlotte shrugged her shoulders and continued to move with her friend toward the woods.

Prompt: I need to fight for this
“She hates me,” Kevin sighed reluctantly to Susan as they walked along the boardwalk eating ice cream. “She doesn’t,” Susan said. She had seen the way Skye had looked at Kevin. She loved him. She was just confused. “She won’t even talk to me.” “She’s in a rough spot right now,” Susan tried to explain, “She is trying to sort things out, and is simply reacting the way she knows how. “By pushing me away?” “I’m not saying it’s not complicated, or that it makes sense, even to her, but this is the situation right now, and you have to decide what you want to do. You have to decide whether it’s worth it to stick it out and weather the storm with her. Ultimately, to fight for her and this relationship. Or to let it go, and move on.” Kevin went silent. He thought about all the good times he had had with her when he had thought her name was Libby. He thought about their time since he had found out who she was. “I think,” he said slowly, “That I need to fight for this.” Susan nodded. She had thought as much. Anyone who saw the two of them together knew that they were meant to be together. “So go,” Susan said, “Fight for her.” Kevin got to his feet and began to rush to his car, but stopped and turned around to look at Susan. He felt bad just leaving her there. “Go!” Susan assured. She’d be fine. Kevin nodded, and hurried to his car, and raced to the safe house. “Agent Douglas,” Skye said shocked. “Skye,” he said softly, striding up to her, “I love you. I want you to know, that no matter what happens, I’m not going anywhere. I’m here to stay.” Skye’s heart leapt in her chest. “Hey!” Ryan ran screaming down the stairs, interrupting whatever Skye was about to say, “Pizza’s here!” Prompt: He reached out gently towards her. / “Come with me.” / She looked away, with tears in her eyes, “I can’t,” she whispered.
They stood there, foreheads together, their hands clasped together as the rain soaked their heads. As her clothes stuck to her with the wetness from the rain, she began to pull away. He reached out gently towards her, “Come with me,” he whispered. Her heart ached. There was nothing more that she’d like to do, but to run away with him, to go with him, but she couldn’t. Their hands were tied. His request was an impossible one. His eyes were burning into her, and she looked away as tears filled her eyes. She felt grateful for the rain, it helped hide the tears streaming down her face. “I can’t,” she whispered to his request. She pulled her hands away from him and hurried away. Prompt: Can you please come and get me?
Skye took a deep breath and forced a smile onto her face. She tried to look like she was having a good time, trying to believe it, but all she could think about was how much she wanted to get up and leave. This was the worst date she had ever been on, not that she had been on very many, but still. He was giving off major creeper vibes. “Dessert?” the waitress asked. “Yes,” the man said, “I’ll like a chocolate cake.” “Um,” Skye said, her stomach falling. She didn’t know if she could handle a dessert as well. She just wanted to leave. She wanted the date to be over, and it had seemed to drag on for hours. “Just a refill on my drink, thanks,” Skye finally said. She couldn’t handle eating anything else. “Don’t worry,” the man said, “You can always share mine.” Skye plastered a smile on her face. “Well, um,” Skye tried, “I’m going to go wash my hands.” She got to her feet and practically raced to the bathroom. Without thinking, she found her cellphone in her hand. She didn’t know what she was doing as she dialed Kevin’s phone number. “Hello?” Kevin asked, she could hear his confusion even over the phone. “Hey,” she said, almost sobbing with relief that he had actually answered, “It’s me.” “I know...caller id.” “Right,” Skye smiled, “Um can I ask you for a favor?” “Sure.” “Could you please come and get me?” “Of course, what’s going on?” “I’ll explain when you get here.” Skye told Kevin where she was and disconnected the call. He was there surprisingly fast and Skye raced to Kevin’s car. “Thank you,” Skye said as they pulled up to the safe house. “No problem,” Kevin smiled, “What happened?” “My date just…” “He looked like a creeper,” Kevin nodded. “Yeah,” Skye felt so humiliated. She had rushed into a date in an attempt to convince Kevin that she was moving on and so should he, and it had totally backfired. Not only was it a terrible, creepy date, but she had had to call Kevin to come bail her out of it. It was humiliating. “It’s okay,” Kevin said, reaching for her hand, “Bad dates happen to everyone.” Skye nodded, and got out of the car. Why did things have to be so complicated? Prompt: I’m a daughter of diamonds and a daughter of diamond is not easily crushed.
They thought they could crush me. They thought they could beat me. But they didn’t truly know who I am. I’m not an ordinary girl. I am a daughter of diamonds. And, as you know, A daughter of diamonds Is not easily crushed. I didn't plan how this would turn out, but I thought it turned out really well. It incorporates Torri's prompt with a prompt that my sister wanted me to do yesterday which was: Hearing the silent realm.
I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it. Prompt: Start your story off with “I remember.” I remember darkness. It evaded everything. It seeped into everything. Consumed everything. I walked down the hall, Deeper into darkness. I slipped down, down, down. Tumbling ever deeper. I heard the screams, Even though I couldn’t see. They filled my brain. Screaming, screaming, screaming. I remember dinosaurs. Not those cute kids dinosaurs, But real, dangerous, man eating dinosaurs That consumed everything around them. They tore people apart. Ate them. Seemingly taking glee in their suffering. Forcing me to witness My friends and family’s deaths. They call it the silent realm. Like the dead are quiet. I beg to disagree. They are loud. You just have to listen. I remember Hearing the silent realm. And once you hear it, They never let you go. Prompt: “No, don’t cry. I hate it when you cry.”
Prompt: “I understood that!” Tear filled Susan’s eyes. She couldn’t stop them. They just happened. “Oh,” Aaron said, noticing the tears, “Oh please no. Don’t cry,” he sat there awkwardly, unsure of what he should do, “I hate it when you cry,” he mumbled underneath his breath, in pig latin. He hadn’t thought that Susan could hear him, but she glanced up at him and eyed him curiously, letting him know, without using any words, that she had, indeed, heard him. “I understood that,” Susan said. Aaron nodded. Of course she had. She was brilliant. And it was just his luck that she had not only heard, but understood what he had said. “I don’t like them very much myself,” Susan admitted while Aaron was silently berating himself, “They make eyes all red and puffy, and a person’s face looks like a tomato afterwards. I swear, no one looks pretty when they cry.” ‘You do,’ Aaron thought to himself. He pursed his lips together so that the words didn’t escape from his mouth. “And the headaches afterwards,” Susan continued rambling. It helped to keep her from actually crying, “Those are the worst.” “I bet,” Aaron said. “Don’t worry,” Susan breathed, blinking back the tears and squaring her shoulders, “I’m not going to cry, so you won’t have to deal with the inconvenience of dealing with me crying.” She got to her feet and strode out of the room. Aaron stared sadly at where she used to be. He had totally messed that situation all up. He mentally kicked himself for being such an idiot. I'm sure most if not everyone has had a day where something happens and it can either push you over the edge and cause you to break down and cry, or you can laugh at it instead. I have a lot of those days, where you just have to laugh otherwise you will just break down. Well, this is Skye's day.
Prompt: “I can’t decide if I want to laugh or cry at that.” / “Been that kind of day, huh?” / “Yeah.” Skye had been working on dinner all day. She wanted everything to be special. It smelled heavenly, and she couldn’t wait for everyone to come home. Kevin walked in just as Skye was turning around with the pot of spaghetti sauce. At the sight of him, Skye dropped the sauce, sending it splattering everywhere. Kevin looked like he had gone through a massacre. “I can’t decide if I want to laugh or cry at this,” Skye said with a kind of smile. She could go either way. She could just laugh it off and move on, or she could let it cause her to snap and break down. “Been that kind of day, huh?” Kevin said, wiping his face of sauce. “Yeah,” Skye nodded with a sigh. “Well, how about you give me a hug instead?” Kevin suggested, opening his arms for her to step into. “No,” Skye shrieked, shrinking back. Kevin took a step forward, causing Skye to turn and run away. They ran throughout the house, finding their way back into the kitchen by the time Kevin caught up with Skye and wrapped her in a hug, effectively getting spaghetti sauce all over her as well. Skye smiled and looked up at her fiance. He smiled and placed a kiss on her lips. Breaking away, together, they laughed as they cleaned up the mess. Prompt: This message will self destruct in 5...4...3...2...1
Skye glanced down at the voicemessage and signed on to hear it. Geoffrey’s voice immediately rang in her ears. “Hey, we need you back,” Geoffrey said, all too happily, “So, get in here right now.” Skye rolled her eyes as Geoffrey’s message continued, “This message will self destruct in 5...4...3...2...1…” The sound of an explosion caused Skye to jump. “Hahaha,” Geoffrey’s voice came back on the line, “I have just always wanted to say that. But seriously, get in here.” He clicked off. Skye rolled her eyes and went to her car to see what they wanted. When I read this prompt, immediately I had several different paths that I could take. Immediately several different groups of characters were like, "Come this way. Use us." And there were two that started shouting really loudly, so when I started, I thought that I would write both of them and give you a double prompt...however, as I started writing the first story, it moved in a way that I didn't expect, and it actually added in the thing I thought that was going to be the second prompt. So it actually is only one prompt, and it didn't even really go the way that I thought it was going to go.
Prompt: How many times do I have to tell you? I’m not her! Orion stared at Coralynn. He could feel his heart reaching out to her, wanting to be with her. His eyes followed her wherever she went; hoping to catch her eye, terrified that he would. He tried to look around. He tried to keep his focus on the dancing, on the party, on things that were going on around him. He failed miserably. He’d manage for a few minutes, if that, before his eyes were back on Coralynn. Coralynn. Wonderful Coralynn. His joy. His life. His happiness. She was his strength. His compass. The girl he couldn’t have. “Hey,” Orion finally got up the courage to go up and talk to her. “Hey,” Coralynn smiled. Orion could feel himself getting weak as he melted at that smile. Their conversation all seemed so short. He longed for more, but the end of the night came all too quickly, and she dashed away. He made his way back to his betrothed, his heart breaking. Sometimes the crown felt all too heavy. Tonight was one of those nights. “Hey my darling,” Orion said, taking Jacquelyn’s hand and kissing it. “Don’t,” Jacquelyn said shortly. She knew her betrothed didn’t love her. She couldn’t fault him. Arranged marriages very rarely started with love. It wasn’t supposed to. It was a marriage for convenience sake. Still, in her heart, she couldn’t help but wish that her soon to be husband would love her. Truly love her, in the way that she could see that he loved Coralynn. “What?” Orion asked. “Don’t do that. Don’t do that unless you mean it.” “I do mean it.” “No you don’t. Or if you do, you don’t mean me when you’re talking.” “I...do,” Orion stammered. “No you don’t. You mean Coralynn. And how many times do I have to tell you? I’m not her!” Her heart breaking, Jaqualynn left the room. She would never be that girl. She wouldn’t be the girl that he wanted. No matter how hard she tried, no matter how much she wanted to, she couldn’t be who he wanted. She wasn’t the girl that his heart reached out to. She wasn’t the girl his heart longed to find. She wasn’t the arms he wanted around him. He was caring enough, but it wasn’t love. He may care for her. He may want the best for her. He may even see her as a friend. But that wasn’t what she wanted. She didn’t simply want to be another friend. Not even a good one. She wanted to be someone’s love. She wanted what Coralynn had, that love of a man who simply adored her. She wanted to be someone’s world. It was a desire that would never come to pass. She would never get to feel what it was like to be ‘someone’s girl.’ |
