Prompt: Your character receives a mysterious letter containing a riddle. How do they solve it?
Saralee stared at the letter, unsure of what she was supposed to do with the information. She quickly folded it up and slipped it in her pocket before hurrying off to get into her running clothes. Once ready, she began to run. She let her body decide where she went and which path it wanted to take. With her body on auto pilot, it left her mind free to try and figure out the riddle. The steady rhythm of her feet hitting the ground helped clear her mind, and focus on the task at hand. She had just made it to the lake when it suddenly hit her! She got it! She finally understood what the letter was about. She had solved the riddle! She jumped in her delight, squealing as if she had just won a gold medal at the Olympics. With an added perk to her step, she raced back to the mansion, ready to take on the future.

Here is Saturday and today's prompts. I did mix them together. That wasn't the original intent, but then I listened to Mother Scotland from Lady M and this just popped into my head and the two of the prompts just seemed to fit together and so that's what happened.
Prompt: “Wanna hear a funny story?” / “Sure.” / “Okay, so not actually funny….” Prompt: “Y’all are a strange band of misfits, but what the king wants, he gets.” “Do you wanna hear a funny story?” Don Juan asked, looking at Peggy. Peggy looked at him expectantly. She could use a funny story. “Sure,” she said. Her eyes widened with excitement at the thought of hearing a story. After breaking up with Darren, she could use all the funny stories she could get, and Don Juan was usually pretty good at coming up with funny stories, or making his life into at least an entertaining story. “Okay,” Don Juan said. He moved toward Peggy, and smiled a smile that was more like a grimace than an actual smile. He sincerely did look like whatever he was going to do wasn’t something that he was looking forward to, and he wanted to be anywhere but where he was. “So, not actually funny,” he continued. He brought out a taser and tased Peggy until she was unconscious and fell into his arms before dragging her into the dungeon where Darren, Marcus, and Adrianna were already waiting. “Wha happened?” Peggy asked groggily as she came to after being tossed into Marcus’ arms. “Y’all are a strange band of misfits,” Don Juan stated, “But what the boss wants, he gets,” he shook his head. Don Juan knew better than to try and figure out Don Miguel’s reasonings for what he wanted. Don Juan just carried through with the orders he was given. Prompt: She was an angel craving chaos….He was a demon seeking peace
She always played the good girl. Never did anything wrong. She was an angel. And ready to shake things up. She was ready for some chaos. He was the opposite. His world was in darkness. He was a demon. Ready to retire. Ready for some peace. Together they fit. They were two parts of a whole. An angel Seeking chaos A demon Seeking peace. They were a match Made in heaven. He was her chaos She was his peace. Together they took on the world. Prompt: “I have never been more frustrated.” / “Really? Not even when *characters name* -“ / “We don’t talk about that for a reason.”
“I have NEVER been more frustrated,” Felicia growled. She attacked the dummy in the training arena with a passion that would cause them to quake in their shoes if they were remotely real. Her ferocity in which she attacked the dummies was making even James and Hunter quake in their shoes. “Really?” Hunter asked. He had seen Felicia get pretty fired up, and while this was intense, he was sure he had seen worse. “Not even when Aiden,” James began. He wasn’t able to finish his sentence, because Felicia whirled around with a fire in her eyes that cut all words from his mouth. “We don’t,” Felicia came closer to James, her voice low and scary, “Talk about that for a reason,” her eyes narrowed as she stared at her friend, “Ever,” her voice was low and deadly, and her proximity to James caused him to lean backwards in order to avoid her wrath, “Do I make myself clear?” James nodded his head slowly. “Got it,” he pushed out. “Good,” Felicia spun on her heels so fast that James fell over. Hunter laughed and helped James to his feet. Prompt: “I’ll help you, just stop panicking….”/ “I’m not panicking, you’re panicking!” / “No I’m not….?” / “Oh yea, that’s still me.”
I’ll help you, just stop panicking,” Lorielle said, trying to remain calm. “I’m not panicking, you’re panicking!” Maverick gasped out. “No I’m not….” Lorielle said, looking at Maverick strangely. She was actually feeling quite calm right now. No panicking. She could handle this situation just fine. In fact, she was a pro at these kinds of things. “Oh yeah,” Maverick breathed, “That’s still me.” How could anyone still be so calm? It wasn’t right. Prompt: Write a story that takes place in space
Anatogia grumbled under her breath as she crossed her arms in front of her. She gave Milovio a withering stare as she did so. “I can’t believe I’m sitting in space jail,” she mumbled, loud enough for Milovio to hear the upset in her voice, “With YOU,” she sent another withering stare toward Milovio. If her looks had the power to kill, he would have been dead five times over by now. Man she wished she had that power, but alas, she didn’t, “Of all people.” “Well being stuck in space jail with you ain’t no picnic either deary,” Milovio said, sending his own withering stare toward Anatogia and using the word deary because he knew exactly how much it bothered Anatogia. “Well it’s your fault. You’re the reason we’re here. If we had just followed the plan that I laid out for us, we would be fine, but NO you had to go off script!” “The mission was going awry anyway. If anything I was doing you a favor! If I hadn’t done what I did we would have ended up six feet under.” Anatogia glared at him. She had nothing to say to that. She knew he was right. The plan had gone off the tracks. Getting them thrown in jail had actually helped them, but that didn’t mean that she had to like it. Prompt: Make it happen. Shock everyone!
Prompt: Our ‘almost’ will always haunt me. Marcus kissed Adrianna lightly on the lips, closing his eyes as he pursed his lips together in order to preserve the kiss, savoring it. “Make it happen,” Adrianna said softly with a smile, “Shock everyone!” Marcus smiled sadly at her. He couldn’t make it happen. He couldn’t even come close to making it happen, and definitely there would be no shocking everyone. If he made it happen, they would die. They were an almost. An almost….something, most likely an almost nothing, but an almost nonetheless. And their almost, their almost something, would always haunt Marcus. Their almost life, their almost relationship, their almost something, would haunt Marcus until his dying breath. Prompt: We’re being led by an idiot with a crayon.
If it was possible for birds to facepalm, Hawthorne would be doing exactly that. “We’re being led by an idiot with a crayon,” the eye roll was evident in his voice as he spoke. Maverick was going to get them all killed. Prompt: Tahiti, Orange, Sadness
“You know what always cures sadness?” Marcus asked, pushing a drink toward Peggy. Peggy looked at the alcohol he was shoving in her direction and shook her head. She didn’t drink, especially not something that was that creepy shade of orange. “Come on, Tahiti Sunrise’s are the best!” Marcus said, taking a sip of her drink. “Thanks,” Peggy said, “But I’d rather be in Tahiti, watching the sunrise instead.” Prompt: Let me sleep
Shut up! Shut up! I just want to sleep. Let me sleep. Please. I just want to sleep. But sleep eludes me. I’ve forgotten how. It’s a task that is impossible. No matter how much I want it. |
