Prompt: I wondered how it would feel to be touched and not be afraid.
She looked over to Jeremiah. He looked so upset that she had flinched as their hands grazed. "I'm sorry," Jeremiah said softly, looking down at his hands guiltily, upset that he had caused her pain, even though he hadn't meant to. "It's okay," Angelica said softly. She withdrew her hands, holding them close to her body so they wouldn't run the risk of being touched again. She looked over at Jeremiah, her heart aching for the fact that she had upset him, that by flinching she had hurt him. She hated hurting people - and she didn't want to hurt Jeremiah. He had been such a life line for her. He had protected her. He had cared for her. He had taken care of her. She didn't want to cause him pain. She looked over at him as he turned his attention to something else to avoid the awkwardness that had settled into the room. As she looked at him, she couldn't help but wonder what it would feel like to be touched and not feel afraid. What would it feel like to be able to be touched and not wonder how much pain she would have to endure with the touch, to know, without a doubt, that the touch would be gentle, caring. She wondered what that was like. Maybe Jeremiah could help her find out.
